A channel reconfigurable millimeter-wave RF system is disclosed including, a high altitude platform, a first and second radio frequency module connected to the high altitude platform. The first radio frequency module includes a first transceiver configured to operate the first antenna at a frequency of greater than approximately 30 GHz and includes a first controller connected to the first transceiver and configured to transmit and received data through a first antenna. The first controller is configured to disable the second radio frequency module based on data received through the first antenna.

Channel reconfigurable millimeter-wave RF system

A phase shifter includes an input port, a first coupling line connected to the input port, an output port, and a second coupling line connected to the output port and arranged substantially parallel to the first coupling line. The phase shifter also includes a substrate disposed between the first coupling line and the second coupling line, a first variable capacitor disposed on the first coupling line, and a second variable capacitor disposed on the second coupling line. Adjustment of one or more of the variable capacitors causes a phase shift between the input port and the output port.

Phase shifter

An interdigital capacitor low loss and high resolution phase shifter is disclosed. The phase shifter includes an input port, a first electrode connected to the input port, an output port and a second electrode connected to the output port and arranged substantially parallel to the first electrode. The phase shifter also includes a substrate disposed between the first electrode and the second electrode, a first variable capacitor disposed on the first electrode and a second variable capacitor disposed on the second electrode. Adjustment of one or more of the variable capacitors causes a phase shift between the input port and the output port.

A method for modifying a communication signal for transmission from a source to a destination includes identifying, by data processing hardware, a target platform for communication with a communication device. The method includes establishing a communication connection between the target platform and the communication device and identifying an available communication channel for communicating data between the target platform and the communication device. The method also includes modifying a communication signal by multiplying the communication signal with a pseudo random noise spreading code. The method also includes causing transmission of the modified communication signal from the communication device to the target platform through the available communication channel. The modified communication signal is transmitted below a thermal noise of the available communication channel.

Global communication network

A method for modifying a communication signal for transmission from a source to a destination includes identifying a target platform for communicating with a communication device and establishing a communication connection between the target platform and the communication device. The method includes identifying an available communication channel for communicating data between the target platform and the communication device, and receiving control inputs from one or more sensors. The method also includes determining a pseudo random noise spreading code based on the received control inputs, and modifying a communication signal by multiplying the communication signal with the pseudo random noise spreading code. Additionally, the method includes causing transmission of the modified communication signal from the communication device to the target platform through the available communication channel, the modified communication signal being transmitted below a thermal noise of the available communication channel.

This disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatus for a radio frequency transceiver. The transceiver includes a modulator for modulating a data signal onto one or more carrier signals to generate a modulated signal and a power amplifier for amplifying the modulated signal. The transceiver also includes a data pre-distorter (DPD) for pre-distorting the data signal using a look-up table that represents a non-linear transfer function that is an inverse of the non-linear transfer function of the power amplifier. The DPD selects one or more look-up tables based on a feedback signal corresponding to a power level and/or a phase of the output of the power amplifier. The transmitter also includes a controller for comparing the output of the power amplifier to a desired output level and upon sensing changes, altering the amplitude and phase of the feedback signal to substantially constant values.

Digital pre-distortion linearization for mobile communication

An antenna includes a receiver, a horn, a lens, and an anti-reflection layer. The horn has a first end disposed on the receiver and a second end defining an aperture positioned opposite the receiver. The lens is disposed within the aperture of the horn and has a first surface facing inward toward the receiver and a second surface opposite the first surface and facing outward away from the horn. The anti-reflection layer includes a dielectric material and is disposed on the first surface of the lens. Moreover, the anti-reflection layer defines holes arranged in a 50/50 material to void ratio and that have a thickness of a quarter wavelength of a signal received by the antenna.

Horn lens antenna

An antenna is provided. The antenna may include at least one open-ended structure extending from a surface of a waveguide. The open-ended structure may have a cross section of many different shapes. The walls of the structure may be movable. The antenna structure may be rotated. The antenna may incorporate a number of different wave feeds. The antenna may provide two-dimensional beam steering.

Integrated waveguide antenna and array

A switch designs having very low insertion loss, in which the insertion loss remains the same regardless of the number of inputs. A plurality of inputs are structured for receiving electromagnetic radiation signal having a wavelength &#x3bb;. A plurality of switches, e.g., PIN diode switches, are coupled to a respective input. A main conductor is coupled to an output. A plurality of leg conductors are coupled at one end to the main conductor and at other end to a respective switch from the plurality of switches, wherein each of the leg conductors has a length substantially equal to n&#x3bb;/2, wherein n is a whole natural number.

Multiple-input switch design

An antenna and antenna array are provided. A radiating elements and corresponding feed lines are provided over a variable dielectric constant material sandwiched between two panels. The sandwich may be in the form of an LCD. The dielectric constant in a selected area under the conductive line can be varied to control the phase of the radiating element. The dielectric constant in a selected area under the radiating element can be varied to control the resonance frequency of the radiating element. The dielectric constant in a selected area under the conductive line can be varied to also control the polarization of the radiating element.

Variable dielectric constant-based antenna and array

An integrated antenna and reflector feed is provided which is structured as a waveguide cavity antenna or array having a curved reflector coupled to a sidewall of the waveguide cavity. A radiation source is situated facing the curved reflector and one or more radiating elements are provided on a top surface of the waveguide cavity. Several curved reflector feeds may be used, operating in the same or different frequencies.

Integrated waveguide cavity antenna and reflector RF feed

An antenna is provided which is structured to operate at two frequency bands simultaneously. The antenna is structured as a waveguide cavity having two types of radiating elements provided on its top surface, symmetrically about the diagonal of the cavity. One group of radiating elements is optimized to operate at one frequency band, while the other group is optimized to operate at a first frequency band. In one implementation, two groups of holes of different diameter are provided on the top surface of the cavity and the radiating elements are two groups of cones of different diameter coupled to different diameter holes. The different diameter holes act as a filet between the two frequency bands.

Antenna operable at two frequency bands simultaneously

An RF feed is provided which is structured as a curved reflector coupled to a sidewall of a waveguide cavity. A radiation source is situated facing the curved reflector. The RF feed may be coupled to a waveguide cavity having radiation elements coupled to top surface thereof, to thereby feed an antenna array. When an antenna array is used, several curved reflector RF feeds may be used, operating in the same or different frequencies.

Apparatus and method for antenna RF feed

An antenna array is provided having a waveguide cavity. The waveguide cavity has a plurality of holes formed on the top surface thereof. Radiating elements are provided on the top surface, each about one of the holes. A radiation source coupled planar wave radiation through an opening in one of the sides of the waveguide cavity.
