An extrudable composition is provided which is made up primarily of gypsum, a binder/rheology aid and water with a crumbly, semi-dry consistency. The extrudable composition described can be extruded through a die to provide a building product. Density can be minimized and strength optimized by using features of the composition and of the process.

Extruded fire resistant construction and building products

A pipe cladding composition which is a phosphate ceramic permeating a non-woven fibrous network. The overall thickness of the sheet is between about 5 and about 20 mils. The phosphate ceramic permeates the fibrous network and extends beyond the fibrous network only up to a maximum thickness of about 3 mils across each side of the sheet. The sheets are prepared using wet reaction mixtures which produce phosphate ceramics. These reaction mixtures are mixed and pressed into the non-woven fibrous network which forms a wet sheet that is then cured to provide the cladding material.

Method of producing phosphate ceramic pipe cladding

Phosphate cement pipe cladding

Phosphate ceramic backing blocks are provided for the profile sanding of wood. The blocks are made of rigid, non-foamed phosphate ceramic. The ceramic is dimensionally stable in spite of friction-caused heat, and also has a semi-polished finish that is achieved without polishing. The phosphate ceramic block is simply made by molding the wet reaction mixture for the ceramic, and then curing the ceramic mixture.

Phosphate ceramic backing blocks and their preparation

The present invention relates to laminated materials which are constructed using layers of reinforcing and/or non-reinforcing materials in combination with layers of a composition which is known in the art to provide water-resistant phosphate ceramic materials. In a preferred embodiment, the products are fire-resistant and intumescent when exposed to heat or direct flame, and they produce little or no smoke. Nevertheless, these products are tough, durable and suitable to provide a decorative and pleasing appearance.
