A method for producing a rubber composite includes mixing graphene with a liquid plasticizer to create a graphene/plasticizer solution, mixing the graphene/plasticizer solution with solid rubber and curing to form a preform, and shaping and vulcanizing the preform. The graphene/plasticizer solution may be a nonaqueous solution. The present disclosure also relates to a rubber composite part produced by the above-referenced method.

Method for graphene incorporation into a rubber compounding by using liquid plasticizer route—LPR method

A method of manufacturing an elastic polymer aerogel material includes dissolving tire waste in a first portion of a solvent to form a first mixture; dissolving a polymer having at least one double carbon-carbon bond in a second portion of the solvent to form a second mixture; combining the first mixture and the second mixture, wherein the tire waste reacts with the polymer having at least one double carbon-carbon bond to form a reactant gel; and undergoing a solvent exchange on the reactant gel followed by freeze drying the reactant gel to form the elastic polymer aerogel material. The tire waste includes natural rubber, synthetic polymers, steel, and curing systems, and the elastic polymer aerogel material defines a 3D porous structure.

A method may include determining that a user interaction with a vehicle is complete, presenting a first indication that the vehicle is unavailable for use, activating a heating element of the vehicle, the heating element associated with a microbial reduction process, determining that a time period associated with the microbial reduction process has expired, deactivating, based on the expiration of the time period, the heating element of the vehicle, and presenting a second indication that the vehicle is available for use.

A foam material includes the reaction product of a polyol mixture and an isocyanate mixture and a boron nitride filler in an amount of ≥0.01 wt. % to ≤0.1 wt. %. In various forms, the boron nitride filler is of nanoparticles, is of hexagonal boron nitride, and/or is treated with a silane coupling agent.

Flexible polyurethane foams having low compression set

A battery system includes a first battery module, a second battery module, and a thermoresistant spacer disposed between the first battery module and the second battery module. The thermoresistant spacer may be a thermoresistant urethane foam or a silicon pad and may include thermoresistant additives, which may include at least one of melamine resin powder, aerogel particles, and milled oxidized polyacrylonitrile fibers. A flame retardant material may be disposed over at least a surface of the thermoresistant spacer.

High temperature insulating foam for high voltage battery protection in electric vehicles

Battery thermal suppression systems may be provided for battery arrays and/or traction battery packs. Exemplary thermal suppression systems may include one or more aerosol devices that are adapted to release aerosol particles that may be distributed over and/or around battery cells/battery arrays during battery thermal events, thereby mitigating thermal propagation. The aerosol devices may be active or passive devices and can be implanted at the battery array level, the traction battery pack level, or both.

A method of forming a composite material includes disposing dried plant material, nanoparticles, and a supercritical fluid in a vessel. A cellular structure of the dried plant material expands when disposed in the supercritical fluid and the nanoparticles migrate into and are embedded within the expanded cellular structure of the disposed dried plant material. The disposed dried plant fibers with embedded nanoparticles are removed from the vessel and mixed with a polymer to form a polymer-nanoparticle mixture. A chemical additive can be added to the supercritical fluid and the chemical additive can remove at least one of hemicellulose, lignin and pectins from the dried plant material.

Post-harvest method for natural fiber nanoparticle reinforcement using supercritical fluids

A polyurethane foam is produced by reacting a polyol-containing composition and an isocyanate composition. The polyol-containing composition includes a petrol-based polyol at greater than or equal to about 50 parts by weight percent and cellulose reinforcements. Additionally, a soy-based polyol is also included in various polyol-containing compositions.

Use of micro and nanocellulose as performance modifiers in flexible polyurethane foams

A closed loop recycling process of manufacturing a foam part includes dispersing a filler material recycled from an additive manufacturing (AM) process in at least one foam reactant and pouring or injecting the at least one foam reactant with the filler material into a mold and forming the foam part. The foam part has a foam matrix with between 2.5 wt. % and 30 wt. % of the filler material. The filler material can be a recycled powder from a selective laser sintering process that is not graded (i.e., sized) before being dispersed in the at least one foam reactant. For example, the recycled powder can be a recycled polyamide 12 (rPA12) powder with an average particle diameter of less than 100 micrometers. Also, the least one foam reactant can be a polyol reactant and an isocyanate reactant such that a polyurethane foam matrix with recycled rPA12 filler material is formed.

Polyurethane foams containing additive manufacturing waste as filler for automotive applications and processes for manufacturing the same

An additive article stabilizing method includes prior to polymerization, adding a radiation-activated stabilizing composition to a liquid resin, forming the article from the liquid resin, layer by layer, using radiation such that the stabilizing composition does not stabilize the liquid resin but the formed article, and neutralizing free radicals generated during a degradation process initiated by exposure of the article to additional radiation post-cure.

Stabilized additive manufacturing articles

A composite material is provided that includes a polymer matrix and fiber reinforcements within the polymer matrix, the fiber reinforcements including natural fibers having nanoparticles accumulated within a structure of the natural fibers. A method of forming the composite material is also provided that includes accumulating nanoparticles into the structure of the natural fibers to create accumulated natural fibers, drying the accumulated natural fibers, and mixing the accumulated natural fibers within the polymer matrix.

The user interface is to present first navigation data in a first mode to assist a driver in guiding a vehicle from a current location to a destination location. The user interface is further to present second navigation data in a second mode to assist the driver in guiding the vehicle from the current location to the destination location. The second navigation data is adapted relative to the first navigation data based on driver assistance data associated with the driver.
