The present disclosure provides a valve assembly including one or more poppet valves. In general, the valve assembly can have one or more poppet assemblies selectively actuatable between a first end position and a second end position. According to some aspects, a crankshaft assembly can be coupled to the one or more poppet assemblies and the crankshaft assembly can selectively actuate the one or more poppet assemblies between the first end position and the second end position.

Systems and methods for a poppet valve assembly

A fluid diverter including a cylindrical body and an extension arm is provided. The cylindrical body defines a first fluid passage extending from a first axial end of the cylindrical body and a second fluid passage circumferentially offset from the first fluid passage and extending from a second axial end of the cylindrical body. A seepage orifice is defined in the cylindrical body providing a fluid communication path between the first axial end and the second axial end. The extension arm extends from the cylindrical body and includes a locating receptacle dimensioned to receive a fixing element to rotationally and axially fix the fluid diverter.

A switchable valve train assembly including a carrier housing defining a hydraulic circuit, a supply assembly, a plurality of rocker shafts, a plurality of separators, and a plurality of rocker arm assemblies is provided. Each one of the plurality of separators divides the rocker shafts into (1) a first chamber extending between a first chamber axial end and the separator, and (2) a second chamber extending between a second chamber axial end and the separator. The plurality of separators each include an orifice defined between the first chamber and the second chamber that provides fluid connection between the first chamber and the second chamber. Locking assemblies of the rocker arm assemblies are selectively actuated based on the supply assembly. The separators ensure that hydraulic fluid within the hydraulic fluid is de-aerated and that the second chambers remain primed with hydraulic fluid for faster actuation of the locking assemblies.

A switchable finger follower, including an inner lever and an outer lever. The outer lever is mounted for pivoting movement to the inner lever. A coupling device is located on one of the inner or outer levers and has a locking pin arranged to move between a locking position, in which the inner and outer levers are connected together for movement in an activation direction, and an unlocked position, in which the inner lever is pivotable relative to the outer lever. A coupling projection is located on the other of the inner or outer lever. The locking pin engages beneath the projection in the locking position, and the locking pin includes a flat at a defined flat height that contacts the coupling surface in the locking position and is selected from a number of locking pins having different flat heights to set a desired mechanical coupling device lash.

A camshaft phaser, including: a stator to receive rotational torque from an engine and including a radially inwardly facing surface and a slot in the radially inwardly facing surface; a rotor to non-rotatably connect to a camshaft, to be connected to an electric motor and including a first radially outwardly extending protrusion; and a spring non-rotatably connected to the stator and including a first portion disposed in the slot. The electric motor is arranged to rotate the rotor with respect to the stator. In a first circumferential position of the rotor with respect to the stator: no portion of the spring is disposed in the indent; and a second portion of the spring extends radially inwardly past the radially inwardly facing surface. In a second circumferential position of the rotor with respect to the stator, the second portion of the spring is disposed in the indent.

Electric camshaft phaser with detent and method thereof

A camshaft phaser, including: a rotatable stator; a rotatable rotor arranged to be non-rotatably connected to a camshaft; first and second wedge plates radially disposed between the rotor and the stator; and a displacement assembly arranged to, for an advance mode, displace the first wedge plate in a first circumferential direction to enable rotation of the rotor, with respect to the stator, in the first circumferential direction, and for a retard mode, displace the second wedge plate in a second circumferential direction, opposite the first circumferential direction, to enable rotation of the rotor, with respect to the stator, in the second circumferential direction.

Multi-position camshaft phaser with two one-way wedge clutches

A hollow rocker shaft including a central opening defined by a radially inner surface and a separator secured in the central opening of the rocker shaft is provided. A radially outer surface of the separator engages the radially inner surface of the rocker shaft via a press-fit. The separator divides the central opening of the rocker shaft into (1) a first chamber extending between a first chamber axial end and the separator, and (2) a second chamber extending between a second chamber axial end and the separator. The separator includes an orifice defined between the first chamber and the second chamber that provides fluid connection between the first chamber and the second chamber.

A switchable valve train assembly including a rocker shaft is provided. The rocker shaft includes a first chamber extending between a first axial end and a second axial end of the rocker shaft and a second chamber extending between the first axial end and the second axial end of the rocker shaft. A seepage orifice is defined between the first chamber and the second chamber and provides a fluid connection between the first chamber and the second chamber. The first chamber includes a first actuator port in fluid connection with a first intake port for a hydraulic lash adjuster. The second chamber includes a second actuator port in fluid connection with a second intake port for a locking assembly.

A camshaft phaser, including: a stator including radially inwardly extending protrusions with radially outermost ends; a rotor including radially outwardly extending protrusions radially outermost ends; chambers at least partially bounded by a inwardly extending protrusion and an outwardly extending protrusion; first seals disposed in the radially innermost ends and facing the rotor; second seals disposed in the radially outermost ends and facing the stator; first and second wedge plates radially disposed between the rotor and the stator; and a displacement assembly arranged to for an advance mode, displace the first wedge plate to enable rotation of the rotor, with respect to the stator, in the first circumferential direction and for a retard mode, displace the second wedge plate to enable rotation of the rotor, with respect to the stator, in a second circumferential direction opposite the first circumferential direction.

A camshaft phaser, including: a stator; a rotor including a first channel and a second channel and connectable to a camshaft a first wedge plate and a second wedge plate; and a displacement assembly including a first pin in the first channel and a second pin in the second channel. For an advance mode: fluid displaces the first pin to displace the first wedge plate to enable rotation of the rotor, with respect to the stator, in a first direction; and the second wedge plate blocks rotation of the rotor, with respect to the stator, in a second direction. For a retard mode: fluid displaces the second pin to displace the second wedge plate to enable rotation of the rotor, with respect to the stator, in a second direction; and the first wedge plate blocks rotation of the rotor, with respect to the stator, in the first direction.

The second stop surface is located on a removable shim that is replaceable for lash adjustment.

A switchable finger follower having two lift modes for a valve train of an internal combustion engine. The follower includes a primary lever with a valve stem support at the first end and a support recess at the second end. A secondary lever is pivotably mounted to the primary lever at the first end, including a coupling surface. A coupling device is located on the primary lever having a coupling pin moveable between a first locking position, in which the secondary lever is locked to the inner lever, and an unlocked position, in which the secondary lever is pivotable relative to the primary lever. The coupling pin includes a ramp surface that engages the coupling surface, and a locking arrangement locks the coupling pin in the first locking position.

A camshaft phaser, including: a stator arranged to receive torque; a rotor arranged to be non-rotatably connected to a camshaft; first and second wedge plates radially disposed between the rotor and the stator; and a displacement assembly arranged to for an advance mode, displace the first wedge plate in a first axial direction so that the rotor is rotatable with respect to the stator in a first circumferential direction. A switchable finger follower having at least two lift modes includes a primary lever and a secondary lever mounted for pivoting movement to the primary lever, the secondary lever includes a cam contact surface, and a lost motion contact projection. A coupling device on the primary lever includes a coupling pin that moves between a locking position, in which the secondary lever is locked to the primary lever in a lift position, and an unlocked position, in which the secondary lever is pivotable relative to the primary lever. A first lost motion idler arm is pivotally connected to the primary lever and has a distal end that contacts the lost motion contact projection. A first lost motion spring is located between the primary lever and the first lost motion idler arm that maintains a preload on the secondary lever via the first lost motion idler arm in the unlocked position.
