Provided is a catalyst for the selective reduction of NOx comprising a two molecular sieve materials having a CHA structure, wherein the first molecular sieve has a mean crystal size of about 0.01 to 1 &#x3bc;m and the second molecular sieve has a mean crystal size of about 1-5 &#x3bc;m, and wherein the first molecular sieve contains a first extra-framework metal, the second molecular sieve contains a second extra-framework metal, and wherein said first and second extra-framework metals are independently selected from the group consisting of cesium, copper, nickel, zinc, iron, tin, tungsten, molybdenum, cobalt, bismuth, titanium, zirconium, antimony, manganese, chromium, vanadium, niobium, and combinations thereof.

Catalyst blends

Provided is a diesel particulate filter capable of removing soot from an exhaust gas while operating at low backpressure, the filter comprising (a) a wall-flow filter substrate having a mean pore size, an inlet side, an outlet side, and a porous interior between the inlet and outlet sides; and (b) a catalyst composition coated from the outlet side of the substrate, wherein the catalyst composition has a dparticle size distribution, wherein the dparticle size distribution is greater than or equal to the mean pore size divided by 4.9, and wherein the inlet side is substantially free of a catalyst coating.

Catalyzed filter for treating exhaust gas

Provided is a diesel particulate filter capable of removing soot from an exhaust gas while operating at low backpressure, the filter comprising (a) a wall-flow filter substrate having a mean pore size, an inlet side, an outlet side, and a porous interior between the inlet and outlet sides; and (b) a catalyst composition coated from the inlet side of the substrate, wherein the catalyst composition has a dparticle size distribution, wherein the dparticle size distribution is less than the mean pore size divided by 4.9, and wherein the outlet side is substantially free of a catalyst coating.

A method of coating substrate monoliths is disclosed. The method comprises locating a containment means on top of the first end face of the monolith; and dosing a predetermined quantity of washcoat composition comprising a liquid phase, at least one polysaccharide rheology modifier and at least one of (i) a suspension of metal oxide particles into the containment means; and (ii) at least one metal salt solute in the liquid phase. The locating step may occur before or after the dosing step. Pressure is applied to the washcoat composition to generate shear stress and to transfer an entirety of washcoat composition into the channels of the monolith by plug flow. Substantially all of the predetermined quantity is retained within the monolith. The part-coated monolith is then rotated so that the second end face is located at the top, and the first three steps are repeated without drying the part-coated monolith.

Method of applying washcoat to monolithic substrate

Provided is a catalyst for selective catalytic reduction of NOx in a lean-burn exhaust gas comprising a 0.8:1.0 to 1.2:1.0 blend of a metal promoted aluminosilicate having a CHA structure and a metal promoted silicoaluminophosphate having a CHA structure, respectively, wherein the silicoaluminophosphate is characterized by a higher promotion metal loading compared to the aluminosilicate.
