The present invention provides adiabatic plug flow reactors suitable for the production of chlorinated and/or fluorinated propene and higher alkenes from the reaction of chlorinated and/or fluorinated alkanes and chlorinated and/or fluorinated alkenes. The reactors comprise one or more designs that minimize the production of by-products at a desired conversion.

The present disclosure includes a nonionic surfactant and a method of providing the nonionic surfactant, where the nonionic surfactant is soluble in carbon dioxide and is used as part of a dispersion for enhanced crude oil recovery. The nonionic surfactant can be part of an emulsion that includes carbon dioxide and a diluent.

The present invention provides isothermal multitube reactors suitable for the production of chlorinated and/or fluorinated propene and higher alkenes from the reaction of chlorinated and/or fluorinated alkanes and chlorinated and/or fluorinated alkenes. The reactors utilize a feed mixture inlet temperature at least 20&#xb0; C. different from a desired reaction temperature.

Isothermal multitube reactors

Processes for the production of chlorinated and/or fluonnated propenes provide good product yield with advantageous impurity profiles in the crude product. Advantageously, the processes may be conducted at lower temperatures than 600&#xb0; C., or less than 500&#xb0; C., so that energy savings are provided, and/or at higher pressures so that high throughputs may also be realized. The use of catalysts or initiators may provide additional enhancements to conversion rates and selectivity, as may adjustments to the molar ratio of the reactants.

Process for the production of chlorinated and/or fluorinated propenes

An apparatus includes a manifold with a chamber for mixing multiple reactants. Gases are jetted into the manifold by a plurality of inlet injectors. The inlet injectors are arranged such that the gases passing into the manifold impinge on each other at a common point to form a mixture. The mixture passes through a plurality of holes in one side of the manifold into a deposition chamber where the mixture of gases impinges on additional gases at a common point to provide a reaction resulting in deposition of solid materials in the deposition chamber. The solid materials are free-standing.

The present invention provides one-step processes for the production of chlorinated and/or fluorinated propenes. The processes provide good product yield with low, e.g., less than about 20%, or even less than 10%, concentrations of residues/by-products.
