A combination slider block and pusher lug for mounting on a base plate mounted on a transfer chain includes a flanged channel having a latch and a base plate receiving cavity for snugly fitting over the base plate. A pair of flanges extend inwardly in opposed facing relation over the cavity from the sides of the channel so as to define a slot sized to receive the mount such as the weld between the base plate and the chain. The web of the flanged channel has a lug mounted orthogonally thereto. The cavity has an opening at one end, sized to receive the base plate therethrough. An opposite end of the cavity includes a stop to arrest sliding translation of the base plate through and along the cavity. The latch is mounted adjacent the opening. The latch operates to selectively lock the base plate in the cavity.

The flow director apparatus according to the present invention in such bins include a plurality of the flow directors which are pivotally mounted or mountable beneath said plurality of diverter gates and to said upper end of said frame so as to depend a free end of each flow director of said plurality of said flow directors downwardly from said upper end into an entrance cavity of said bin defined by said upper end of said frame. Each flow director is elongate and has a base end opposite said free end. Each flow director pivotally is mounted or mountable to said upper end of said frame at said base end of the flow director.

A lumber trimmer is disclosed wherein only one pair of parallel spaced-apart trim saws is mounted at one or both ends of a shaft. Each pair of trim saws is laterally movable along the shaft parallel to the longitudinal axis of lumber in the lumber trimmer. Each saw of the pair of trim saws is operably coupled with an actuator such that each saw is selectively vertically movable to trim the lumber. The pair of trim saws may be mounted to a carriage. A second actuator is operably coupled with the pair of trim saws for selectively laterally translating the pair of trim saws along the shaft.

Laterally movable trim saw

A workpiece support mountable onto a workpiece conveyor, the support including a rigid vertically upstanding member, which is vertical when mounted onto an upper-most surface of the workpiece conveyor, and a cap mounted onto the upstanding member. The cap includes a housing defining a cavity. The housing is substantially entirely sealed around the cavity so as to inhibit detritus entering the cavity. The cavity has an opening at a lower-most end thereof. The opening is for snug mounting of the cap onto the upstanding member when the upstanding member is journalled snugly in the cavity.

A method and apparatus of turning a board while the board is being transferred in a conveyance system includes a conveyance system for transporting a board, a rotary turning device for rotating the board, a bumper stop for restraining the board and a speed-up belt for increasing or decreasing delivery of the board. The rotary turning device rotates at a constant rate relative to the conveyance system speed; the bumper stop stops the flow of the lumber allowing the rotary turning device to pick up the board; the speed-up belt accelerates the board to the front of the lug space and the conveyance system transports the board while it is turned within the lug space.

Powered rotary board turner

An improved slider block is a length of flanged channel having a cut-out in the lower web of the channel to accommodate mounting a flat bar journalled in the cut-out. The flanged channel is resilient. The flanged channel has a length sufficient to cover the length of a base plate on which the flat bar is orthogonally mounted. The sides of the channel define a cavity having a depth corresponding to the thickness of the base plate. A pair of flanges extend inwardly over the cavity from the sides of the channel so as to define a chain-receiving slot therebetween. The base plate mounts within the cavity. The base plate is welded to a chain so that when the base plate is mounted in the cavity the chain is mounted in and along the chain-receiving slot.

Slider block for pusher lug

A lumber trimming device for trimming elongate workpieces conveyed on an infeed conveyor in a laterally disposed orientation relative to an infeed direction. The lumber trimming device includes a gang of laterally spaced apart drop saws wherein the drop saws are independently actuable according to generally optimized trimming instructions from an optimizer. At least on end-trimming saw is mounted adjacent the gang. The end-trimming saw or saws is or are selectively laterally translatable according to optimized end-trimming instructions from the optimizer so as to cooperate with the gang. The end-trimming saw or saws cooperate with the optimizer and the drop saws so that a first drop saw of the drop saws is actuated simultaneously with optimized lateral positioning of a first end-trimming saw so as to trim a first workpiece of the workpieces on the infeed conveyor simultaneously by both the first drop saw in a first trim cut and the first end-trimming saw in a second trim cut. Where a second end-trimming saw is employed, the first end-trimming saw cooperates with the optimizer to laterally re-position the first end-trimming saw subsequent to the second trim cut simultaneously with the second end-trimming saw actively laterally pre-positioning for an end trim cut on a second and next-adjacent workpiece on the infeed conveyor.
