Embodiments of a plug-in unit for an electrical enclosure are disclosed. The plug-in unit includes at least one stab configured to engage a bus, a stab shaft coupled with a base of the at least one stab, and a stab translation mechanism configured to translate the stab shaft such that the at least one stab translates from a retracted position to an extended position.

Method and apparatus for translating coupling features of a plug-in unit

A system for isolating a power conductor includes a power conductor that extends between first and second flanking support structures. First and second collars are connected respectively to the first and second flanking support structures. The first and second collars each at least partially surround the power conductor and including respective first and second open tracks that cooperate with each other to define a sheet-receiving slot. An electrically insulating/insulative sheet is located in the sheet-receiving slot and extends continuously between the first and second collars. The sheet is secured in covering relation with the power conductor.

An improved electrical system may be provided by electrically isolating horizontal power distribution bus bars of differing phases, disposed along a preconfigured isolated bus support molding, from one another by covering each bus bar with an electrically insulating molded assembly. The electrically insulating molded assembly has contours configured to cover a particular bus bar (with respect to another bus bar or live fastener), arranged within the constraints of the preconfigured isolated bus support molding in the electrical system (such as along the back of the isolated bus support, between the isolated bus support and a wall of the electrical system).

An improved electrical system may be provided by electrically isolating complex bus geometries by using one or more substantially flat and electrically insulating sheets. The sheet may have one or more fold lines which allow the sheet to fold in multiple directions and ways over varying configurations of power conductors. The sheet may fit within the constraints of preconfigured electrical system components without the need for redesigning such components. The sheet may have a dielectric strength per mil effective to isolate power conductors based on maximum charge and proximity of the power conductors.

A stab for use in a plug-in assembly includes a stab piece and a lug. The stab piece includes one or more contact arms configured to engage a bus bar, and a base portion coupled to the one or more contact arms. The base portion is configured to be coupled to a stab shaft for rotating the stab about a rotational axis to transition the stab from a retracted position to an extended position. The lug is coupled to the stab piece and configured to receive wire for transmitting power from the bus bar to an electrical component. The lug is configured to be deformed around the wire to hold the wire when a crimping force is applied to the lug. The lug is configured to hold the wire at a position approximately centered on a rotational axis of the stab shaft when the lug is deformed by the crimping force.

System and method for transmitting power through a plug-in unit

An electrical enclosure wherein an electrical component can be moved between various positions (e.g., connected, disconnected, test, etc.) without opening an enclosure door. The electrical enclosure supports a component for movement between a withdrawn position, a test position, and an inserted position. A handle is accessible by an operator from an exterior of the enclosure and is configured to move the component between the respective positions without having to open the enclosure. The handle is integral with the enclosure and thus an operator needs no special tool or other device to effect movement of the electrical component between its respective positions.

A bus support system is disclosed that accommodates three-wire three-phase circuitry and four-wire three-phase circuitry. A main bus support element is designed to receive horizontal bus bars and vertical bus bars for installation in an electrical enclosure. The main support element is supplemented by an add-on bus support element where a neutral bus is required for four-wire three-phase operation.
