An intermediate for a mailer type business form is formed from a quadrate sheet of paper which is Z-folded to produce a mailer type business form with a reply envelope, without windows or patches. A large amount of area is provided for printing yet the reply envelope produced accepts a conventional size personal check without folding. Outgoing address indicia is imaged on the top face of the first ply and a first line of demarcation (preferably a line of weakness) passes through that indicia, while a reply address indicia is imaged on the bottom face of the second ply and not intersected by the first line of demarcation. Aligned first and second lines of weakness are formed in the first and second plies parallel to the end edges of the mailer and spaced from the second end edge of the mailer a distance (e.g. about one half inch) large enough to contain postal bar coding between the first line of weakness and the second end edge, the postal address bar coding thus being removed when the outgoing envelope is opened. The return envelope flap is large enough to cover any remaining outgoing address indicia on the first ply top face when the reply envelope closing flap is folded over to seal the reply envelope.

An intermediate for a mailer type business form, and a mailer formed from the intermediate, have a fourth panel/ply of lesser width that the other three panels/plies, which forms a reply envelope flap. A cutout is formed in one of the panels/plies forming a reply envelope, through which cutout the outgoing and reply addresses are visible. The reply address is provided on a flap connected by a fold line to one of the panels/plies forming the reply envelope, and is aligned with the cutout when the reply address flap is folded into the interior of the reply envelope. Other reply address flaps, having different reply addresses, also may be provided.

A C-fold mailer having a return envelope, booklet insert or both is disclosed. The mailer is formed from a relatively large web sheet having two transverse fold lines that separate the sheet into three rectangular sections. Discrete strips of heat seal glue or other adhesive are applied along sections of the edges of one side of the web. In addition, the web is printed with mailing and promotional information and lines of weakness, e.g., perforations, are selectively scored across the web. Furthermore, inserts such as a booklet and return envelop may be included in the mailer.

An intermediate for a mailer type business form is formed from a quadrate sheet of paper which is Z-folded to produce a mailer type business form with a reply envelope. A large amount of area is provided for printing yet the reply envelope produced accepts a conventional size personal check without folding. The outgoing address is visible through a window and a first ply of the mailer, the outgoing address printed on the second ply of the mailer. The second and third plies of the mailer have a first perforation line which allows separation into a reply envelope and coupons or stubs, at least one of which can be returned to the entity sending out the outgoing mailer, and the reply address for the return envelope is printed on the top face of the second, middle, ply of the mailer.

A mailer type business form is formed by double parallel folding a single sheet of paper. The mailer may include a return envelope with a side opening edge, or it may comprise a seven page booklet, all of the pages attached together at one edge and most or all of the pages detachable from the booklet along a perforation line. One of the panels may be of a somewhat smaller width than the others, to allow elimination of one adhesive line, and one thickness of the final mailer, when the intermediate is double parallel folded.

An intermediate for a mailer type business form, and the mailer so produced, comprise face-to-face first and second plies which have aligned windows in them, with the outgoing address visible through both windows in the outgoing configuration of the mailer, and with the reply address visible through the second window in the reply envelope configuration after the outgoing mailer is opened and a reply address card inserted into the reply envelope. Carbonless coatings are also preferably provided associated with the first and second plies so that indicia imprinted on the first ply is transferred to the second ply. First adhesive patterns hold the plies together in the intermediate, and second adhesive patterns hold the mailer together when the plies are V-folded about aligned intermediate fold lines. Perforations allow opening of the outgoing mailer, and the bottommost ply of the outgoing mailer has reply address indicia printed thereon, and perforations which allow it to be detached into a card and inserted into the reply envelope, for reply address indicia visible through the second window.

V-fold two-ply mailer

A first sheet of large (e.g. 81/2.times.11 inch) size and a second sheet connected by adhesive to the first sheet only at a reply envelope portion, form a mailer type business form. The first sheet is eccentrically Z-folded about fold lines to produce the mailer, with permanent adhesive sealing the panels of the mailer together, the return envelope being disposed within the mailer. Located next to the return envelope inside the mailer, separated by a perforation line, is a reply statement portion having reply statement indicia printed on it. The entire intermediate may be simplex printed because of its eccentric Z-shape configuration.

A single-ply is folded about a transverse fold line longitudinally offset from a median through the ply and folded about parallel substantially coincident axes to form first, second, third and fourth panels of a mailer assembly. Longitudinally extending lines of perforations define marginal tear strips and transversely extending lines of perforations on the second and third panels adjacent the middle fold line and adjacent a free end of the first panel register with one another to form an end tear strip adjacent the top or bottom of the mailer. Where a return envelope is required, one of the panels has a U-shaped pattern of heat-sealable adhesive to join a pair of registering panels one to the other, with another panel forming a closure flap bearing rewettable adhesive.

An intermediate and mailer are provided, the mailer formed by concentrically C-folding a single sheet of paper. The narrow portion of the mailer is the front of the reply envelope, and a statement, coupon, etc., adapted to be placed into the return envelope, is connected to the return envelope by a perforation line when the mailer is opened. A vertical perforation separates the mailer into two parts, one part comprising the return envelope and statement or coupon when opened, and the other part being a six-part booklet, and including the outgoing address information which typically is visible through a window in the mailer front face. To facilitate opening, where a horizontal perf is to be torn the mailer has only a double thickness instead of a triple thickness.

An intermediate, and mailer formed from it, utilize a single sheet to form at least one reply envelope. The sheet is eccentrically C-folded, and preferably two reply envelopes are formed between first and third plies of the mailer. A third reply envelope also can be formed from a second ply of the mailer by a quadrate panel adhesively secured to the bottom face of the second ply. Lines of weakness, such as perforations, allow ready detachment of the sealed edges of the mailer, and separation of the reply envelopes from each other.

A single sheet intermediate for a mailer type business form is Z-folded into a reusable mailer having a return envelope. The Z-folding of the intermediate provides three panels of about the same size, and a cut out covered by a transparent patch may be provided in the second panel, the patch covered by a removable outgoing addressee label. The reply address may be printed on the first face of the third panel of the mailer, or on the first face of the first panel on a detachable portion that may be inserted into the return envelope. The return envelope is defined by a generally U-shaped adhesive pattern, open at one side, with a flap having rewettable adhesive at the open side. Removable strips along the side edges of the mailer are held together by permanent adhesive, and are removed when opening the mailer and using the return envelope. The bar coding and the outgoing postage indicia are detached from the mailer when it is opened so that they are not visible on the return envelope.

A mailer with a return envelope is formed from an intermediate which is a single ply of paper having first and second faces. Fold lines divide the ply into four about equal size quadrants with outgoing address indicia printed on the first ply first face, and the reply address indicia printed on the third quadrant first face. Adhesive associated with either the second or fourth ply and the third ply forms the second or fourth and the third ply into a return envelope. The return envelope has a closable flap, having adhesive on the second face, which is adjacent the open portion of the return envelope. Permanent adhesive, such as heat seal adhesive, is disposed in border areas on portions of the second faces of at least two of the quadrants, and on the fourth or third quadrant, to hold the ply into a mailer configuration, folded about the fold lines.

An intermediate for a mailer type business form, and the mailer itself, provide a secure construction of return envelope and may be manufactured in a simple manner from a single piece of paper. The mailer is formed by V-folding a single ply about a first fold line, with the left hand side of the outgoing mailer forming a return envelope and the right hand side forming detachable information containing panels. The outgoing address indicia is printed on the inner face of one of the panels forming the return envelope, while the other panel forming the return envelope has a window through which the outgoing address is visible. When the right hand portion of the mailer is detached, the panel of the right hand portion having reply address indicia printed on its inner face may be separated, by perforations, from the rest of the components and inserted into the return envelope to cover the outgoing address, and so that the reply address is clearly visible through the window of the return envelope. The glue strips holding the return envelope together also serve to hold the mailer in its outgoing configuration.

V-fold mailer with return envelope

A mailer type business form and intermediate are constructed from a single quadrate sheet of paper having first through fourth edges and first and second fold lines, which cooperate to divide the sheet into four panels. The first panel has a cutout positioned to overlie an outgoing address printed on the second panel, when the sheet is folded about the first fold line. Reply address indicia, including bar coding, is printed on the second face of the second panel. Two strips of transfer tape on the first face of the fourth panel cooperate to allow the second and fourth panels to be formed into a return envelope by the recipient. A return envelope flap with rewettable adhesive strip is formed from a second panel. Strips of heat or pressure activated adhesive are disposed adjacent the edges and/or first fold line of various panels in order to seal the sheet into a mailer when folded about the fold lines, and perforation lines are disposed adjacent each of the adhesive strips.

An intermediate for a mailer type business form, and a mailer type business form, are constructed by the simple V-folding of a single sheet of paper, yet provide a return envelope. The return envelope is constructed from pressure sensitive adhesive strips covered with release liner strips and a rewettable glue strip provided on one of the panels of the V-folded sheet, while the panel has printing on its entire inner face. The outgoing address is printed on the second panel near one of the pressure sensitive adhesive strips, and is viewed from the exterior of the mailer through a cutout (with transparent patch) formed in the first panel.
