An orifice plate for an injector is provided, which includes a base portion disposed along a base plane. An offset portion is unitarily formed with the base portion. The offset portion is at least partially disposed outside of the base plane. The offset portion defines a flow entry side and a flow exit side, and the offset portion defines a plurality of exit apertures therethrough. A plurality of projections extends from the flow entry side of the offset portion. The plurality of projections is configured to contact an injector surface. An injector and a reductant delivery unit incorporating such an orifice plate are also provided.

Orifice plate flow path stabilizer

A valve seat (') for a fuel injector () includes a main body () having a proximal and a distal end with at least one orifice () extending through the main body. A seating surface () is provided on the main body to receive a closure member () of a fuel injector such that when the closure member engages the seating surface, the at least one orifice is closed. A guide surface () is provided on the main body to guide movement of the closure member. An annular wall () extends in a cantilever manner from the main body at the distal end thereof and defines an outer peripheral portion of the valve seat. The wall is constructed and arranged to deform during welding at the wall so as to isolate effects of the welding from the seating surface and the guide surface.

High pressure fuel injector seat that resists distortion during welding

A spring-actuator assembly () is provided for a fuel pressure regulator. The assembly includes a housing () and a washer spring () received in the housing. The washer spring has a body () with a top surface () and a bottom surface (). The body includes an opening () there-through and a plurality of pleats () therein so that that first faces () of the top surface are disposed on a plane that is different from a plane of second faces () of the top surface. At least certain first faces define contact points (). The assembly also includes an actuating member () disposed at least partially in the opening and engaging the contact points of the certain first faces such that a fluid flow passage () are defined between the washer spring and the actuating ball for dampening.

Pleated washer spring for fuel pressure regulator

A method of producing a laminated armature for a fuel injector provides providing a plurality of laminations () in plate-shaped strip stock material (). Each lamination has a base () and a plurality of tabs () extending from the base. The base and tabs are coplanar. The laminations are cut from the strip material, with the tabs having free ends (). The tabs are bent so as to be generally transverse with respect to the base. The laminations are then stacked on top of each other and joined together. The free ends of the tabs are cut to define a generally planar impact surface.

Method of manufacturing a laminated armature for a fuel injector

A mounting arrangement with a fuel rail having a plurality of fuel injector cups, a plurality of fuel injectors, and a clip. The fuel injector cups include a cylindrical tube defining a longitudinal axis, a fuel rail mounting section disposed at a first end of the tube, and a lip at a second end of the tube. Each of the fuel injectors corresponding to one of the plurality of fuel injector cups. The fuel injectors have a housing with a retention groove. The clip engages both the lip of the fuel injector cup and the retention groove in the housing of the fuel injector to secure the fuel injector to the fuel injector cup and allow the fuel injector to reciprocate along the longitudinal axis.

Fuel injector mounting arrangement

A fuel injector with a neck at an upstream end and a downstream end located at a distal end from the upstream end, a fuel channel extending from the upstream end to the downstream end and defining a substantially longitudinal axis, and a check valve located in the fuel channel proximate the upstream end; and a fuel rail with a housing defining an opening having a substantially longitudinal axis passing therethrough, and a one-way flow inhibitor is located in the opening. When removing the fuel injector from the fuel rail, reducing leaks by biasing a plunger of the check valve against a seat of the check valve in the fuel injector and biasing a plunger of the one-way flow inhibitor against a seat of the one-way flow inhibitor in the fuel rail.

Fuel injector and fuel rail check valves

A clip to couple a crossover tube to a fuel rail includes an annular body that extends along a longitudinal axis between a first end and a second end of the clip, the first end capturing the crossover tube. The annular body includes a first arcuate portion coupled to a second arcuate portion and a tab. An arm extends from the other of the first and second arcuate portions, the arm having serrations extending generally towards the longitudinal axis. The annular body includes at least one catch surface located on at least the first and second arcuate portions. The catch surface is coupled to the at least one boss portion of the at least one fuel rail to couple the clip to the fuel rail. A method of coupling the clip to the crossover tube prior to the clip being secured to the fuel rail is also disclosed.

Retaining clip

An integrated fuel rail portion and mounting bracket assembly is provided. The assembly includes an elongated support portion and at least one mounting bracket integrally connected to the elongated support portion. A method of forming the assembly is also provided.

Stamped fuel rail with integrated mounting brackets

A fuel rail for a fuel injection system is disclosed. The fuel rail includes a first portion including a generally elongated base, at least one mounting bracket and a plurality of fuel cup openings in the generally elongated base. The fuel rail also comprises a second, generally U-shaped, portion having a first and second opposing sides. Each of the first and second opposing sides are sealingly connected to the generally elongated base with a laser weld. The second portion also has a supply end having a fuel supply opening, and a closed end, distal from the supply end. The closed end and the supply end are sealingly connected to the generally elongated base with a laser weld. A method of manufacturing the fuel rail is also disclosed.

Laser welded fuel rail and process of making same

Projection welding is used to join a needle guide member and a valve seat member together preparatory to their assembly into the nozzle of a fuel injector. Various embodiments are disclosed, including various ways for creating the projections. In the preferred embodiment the projections on the end face of the guide member are made my forming a small holes in the frustoconical surface of the guide plate. As the tool is used to form the small holes in the guide plate, the material of the guide plate is displaced creating small projections from the frustoconial guide surface.

Projection welded needle guide

The cup into which the injector inlet is inserted has a radial key on its lip which requires that the retention clip have a proper circumferential orientation for registration with the key in order to permit the full assembly of the injector to the cup to be achieved when the injector, with the clip attached thereto, is inserted into the cup. The key is formed during the cup fabrication process out of metal that would otherwise be a part of the offal stock that is trimmed from the perimeter of the blank after the blank has been drawn to form the cup.
