A structural reinforcement device for insertion into a cavity of a structure and method for making the same including a first reinforcement section that has at least one projection of a first expandable polymeric material secured to it; and a separate second reinforcement section mated with the first reinforcement section, the second reinforcement section being configured to include at least one cavity, into which the at least one projection penetrates upon mating, and at least one aperture defined therein through which the expandable material flows during expansion and where it will remain upon curing of the material, thereby causing the first reinforcement section to be coupled with the second reinforcement section.

Reinforcement structure and method employing bulkheads

The present invention is predicated upon the provision of systems and methods for reinforcement of a structural member. More particularly, the present invention is predicated upon unique carrier configurations and application of reinforcing material thereto. In one configuration, the application of reinforcing material is achieved without the use of fasteners, adhesives, or both, for placement, locating and restrictive movement of the reinforcing material onto the carrier.

Structural reinforcements

An isolating decoupler comprising a hub for connection to a shaft, a pulley journalled to the hub, the pulley having a belt engaging surface, a composite spring having a clutch portion, a transition portion and a variable diameter portion, the composite spring engaged between the hub and the pulley, the clutch portion diameter reducible in a loading direction for a frictional engagement with the pulley in the loading direction, the frictional engagement of the clutch portion progressively releasable from the pulley in an unloading direction, the variable diameter portion having a diameter which varies according to a torque load; and an inertial member engaged with the hub through a damping member.

Isolating decoupler

A tensioner comprising a base, a first pivot arm pivotally engaged to the base, a first pulley journalled to the first pivot arm, a second pivot arm pivotally engaged to the base, a second pulley journalled to the second pivot arm, a flexible tensile member having a toothed engagement with the first pivot arm and a toothed engagement with the second pivot arm whereby the first pivot arm and the second pivot arm move in a coordinated manner, and a tensioner assembly pivotally engaged to the base and engaged with the flexible tensile member.

Tensioner

A self-locking clutch mechanism comprising a base, an output member journalled to the base, a first spring engaged between the base and the output member, the first spring exerting a first spring force in a first direction, a clutch spring engaged with an intermediate member and frictionally engaged with a base cylindrical surface, an input member rotationally engaged with the base, the input member intermittently engagable with the clutch spring through a control member such that the clutch spring is temporarily released from the base cylindrical surface upon a rotary movement of the control member in a first direction, the intermediate member rotates upon release of the clutch spring from the base cylindrical surface, and a second spring engaged between the intermediate member and the output member, the second spring exerting a second spring force opposite the first spring force.

Self-locking clutch mechanism

An isolating pulley comprising a hub comprising an inertia carrier, the inertia carrier having an inner surface, a spring carrier journalled to the hub, the spring carrier having a releasable driving engagement with the inertia carrier, a pulley journalled to the hub, a spring drivingly engaged between the spring carrier and the pulley, a clutch spring having a frictional engagement with the inner surface, and which frictional engagement is partially releasable upon a temporary, pressing contact of the pulley upon the clutch spring.

Crankshaft isolating pulley

A belt transmission comprising a housing, a first belt trained between a first shaft and a first intermediate shaft, a second belt trained between the first intermediate shaft and a second intermediate shaft, a third belt trained between the second intermediate shaft and a second shaft, a first tensioner and second tensioner each engaged with the housing and each engaged about the first intermediate shaft whereby each tensioner exerts a force upon the first intermediate shaft which thereby imparts a tension to the first belt and to the second belt, and a third tensioner and fourth tensioner each engaged with the housing and each engaged about the second intermediate shaft whereby each tensioner exerts a force upon the second intermediate shaft which thereby imparts a tension to the second belt and to the third belt.

A vehicle steering system transmission comprising a driver connected to a driver shaft, the driver shaft connected to an output shaft by a flexible link, a first sensor sensing the driver shaft, a control unit receiving a signal from the first sensor, and the control unit transmitting a signal to the driver to control an output shaft movement.

An isolator decoupler comprising a shaft (), a pulley () journalled to the shaft, a torsion spring () engaged between the pulley and a carrier (), the torsion spring loaded in an unwinding direction, a wrap spring () engaged between the carrier and the shaft, the wrap spring comprising a cylindrical inner portion () and a planar outer portion () connected by a tapered portion (), and the inner portion frictionally engaged with the shaft in a winding direction.

An isolating decoupler comprising a shaft, a pulley journalled to the shaft, a torsion spring engaged with the pulley, a wrap spring frictionally engageable with the shaft, the torsion spring and wrap spring connected in series such that each is torsionally loaded in a winding direction, the wrap spring comprising a variable cross-section having a first cross sectional dimension and a second cross sectional dimension, and the wrap spring temporarily releasable from the shaft in an overtorque condition by contact with the pulley urging the wrap spring in an unwinding direction.

An isolator decoupler comprising a shaft, a pulley journalled to the shaft, a clutch carrier journalled to the shaft through a one-way clutch, a torsion spring engaged between the pulley and the clutch carrier, the torsion spring loadable in an unwinding direction, the torsion spring and the pulley having a predetermined clearance between a torsion spring outside diameter surface and a pulley inside diameter surface, and whereby the torsion spring outside diameter surface and a pulley inside diameter surface come into a progressive frictional engagement by torque load dependent radial expansion of the torsion spring.
