A method for tracking a patient in a medical facility is disclosed. The method includes determining whether a patient is to be moved, indicating the time at which the patient should start to be moved, and interrogating a RFID sensor on the patient at a predetermined time interval to determine when the patient has been moved.

System and method for locating a patient

A system and method for claiming a user-specific website associated to a user's telephone number is disclosed. The present invention provides for user identity verification through telephone number detection. The user-specific website requested is associated to the telephone number of the requesting user. This prevents the potential for anonymity, which is found in present methods. Potential users must 'authenticate' that they have access to the phone number of the website that they are attempting to claim. Website claiming can be done by first requesting a user-specific website online and then accessing the system's telephone service for phone number verification. In the alternative, website claiming can be performed by first calling the system phone number for phone verification, followed by online website claim completion.

Method and apparatus for user-specific website claiming

A first computer (e.g., a central server) collects information to be presented to one or more users. The information is organized into a plurality of first web-sites where each of these web-sites is addressable by a unique Universal Resource Locator (URL). A physical location is associated with each of the first web-sites. One of the first web-sites may be provided to a user as a user web-site. When the user or other individual seeks to access the user web-site, links to a plurality of the first web-sites are provided based on a relationship between the physical locations associated with the first web-sites and the physical location associated with the user web-site.

Method and system for providing local information over a network

A method and system is provided where a first computer (e.g., a central server) collects information to be presented to one or more users. The information is organized into a plurality of first web-sites where each of these web-sites is addressable by a unique Universal Resource Locator (URL). A physical location is associated with each of the first web-sites. One of the first web-sites may be provided to a user as a user web-site. When the user or other individual seeks to access the user web-site, links to a plurality of the first web-sites are provided based on a relationship between the physical locations associated with the first web-sites and the physical location associated with the user web-site.

An address assignment mechanism allows an address server to receive requests for network addresses from computer systems. Based on an identity of the requesting computer system, the address server selects an address for use from local addresses or guest addresses. If the address server identifies the requesting computer system as a guest computer system, then a guest address selected from a set of guest addresses is assigned and provided to that computer system, whereas if the address server identifies the requesting computer system a local computer system then the address server selects and assigns a local address (from the set of local addresses) to the requesting local computer system. Data communications devices selectively route data portions sent from computer systems depending upon if those data portions contain guest addresses or not. Selective transport therefore restricts access to certain parts of the network if the data portion contains a guest address.

Apparatus and methods for allocating addresses in a network

A method and apparatus is presented where similar Internet site names are handled in an improved manner at a Domain Name Server. In one example, a first site name from a computer system coupled to the Internet is compared to a variety of site names through a regular expression comparison. Thus, a site that has a number of similar site names (and potentially new site names that will have a similar format) will be better able to handle attempted accesses to site names that should logically go to its site.

The system of the invention provides a unique address assignment mechanism and technique that allows an address server such as a DHCP server to receive requests for network addresses from computer systems or other requesting devices. Based on an identity of the requesting computer system, or on another criteria, the address server can select an address for use on the network from either a set of local addresses or one or more sets of guest addresses. If the address server identifies the requesting computer system as a guest computer system, then a guest address selected from at least one set of guest addresses is assigned and provided to that computer system, whereas if the address server identifies the requesting computer system a local computer system then the address server selects and assigns a local address (from the set of local addresses) to the requesting local computer system. Data communications devices in the network can be configured to selectively route data portions sent from computer systems depending upon if those data portions contain guest addresses or not. Selective transport provides, for example, restricted access to certain parts of the network if the data portion contains a guest address. If multiple sets of guest addresses are provided, data communications devices in the network can be configured to provide less restrictive access to data portions containing a guest address from one set of guest addresses, while also providing more restrictive access to data portions containing a guest address from another set of guest addresses. Security is also provided via a robust verification and authentication technique that allows two components to securely verify the identity of each other via key encryption techniques during the exchange of information. Also, an address server in a local network can verify the identify of a requesting computer system from a verification computer system in a remote domain with which the requesting computer system purports to be associated.

An enhanced CLAW protocol supports the transfer of multiple data types from different sockets/sessions within a single channel operation between a host mainframe and a control unit of a computer network. Multiple sublinks are created under a single packed CLAW logical link, wherein each sublink may transport a uniquely identifiable data type as a message from a socket/session. The messages are then concatenated within a single CLAW data block for transfer over a channel coupling the host and control unit. In addition, the invention increases the maximum size of the CLAW block for each channel operation.

Enhanced claw packing protocol

A system and method for loading software identifies versions of software modules to be loaded. The version identification allows a loader to request, access and load any level or version of a program that the application interacts with. Thus, the loader selects only specific versions of software that are known to be compatible with other software currently loaded or being loaded. The software includes specific compatibility information that is used to determine whether it should be selected or passed over for another version of the same software. In this manner, a &ldquo;version aware&rdquo; loader ensures that loaded software modules are compatible with one another and will therefore execute properly. The version aware loader may be implemented in an operating system or other loading software running on a personal computer or network router.
