A dispensing valve arrangement is provided which includes a series of pinch valves and their respective deformable hoses. A pair of actuating mechanisms is provided so that some of the pinch valves first move to full flow position before other pinch valves move towards opened position to provide sequential operation and an additional feed which confluently merges and mixes with the feed from the first valves.

A combined solution dispensing and pressurizing valve is provided so that the dispensed fluid is pressure driven to exhaust through the valve.

An upright cleaner is provided with both above the floor and normal floor operation by the provision of a conversion valve that is driven to converted position by movement of the cleaner handle to storage position. Reconversion also may be obtained by placement of the cleaner handle again in its operative cleaner manipulative range.

A sealed motor-fan system for a cleaner is disclosed in which a two piece gasketed housing is disposed around the motor-fan system to seal it. The two piece housing forms a joint in assembled condition and the gasket is disposed in this joint.

A vacuum cleaner is provided with a furniture guard that extends around at least a portion of the cleaner. The furniture guard is slotted so as to provide for outward ventilation of cleaner air.

The invention provides a resiliently mounted top cap for a cleaner bag that tends to urge a bag upwardly to tighten it. At the same time, the cap may be removed downwardly against its spring bias for shaking as a dirt loosening mechanism. The cap also includes an integral cord hook so that downward movement of it against its spring bias also provides a cord dump function.

The invention is provided in a floor care appliance with a rigid housing having a pocket for nesting an accessory appliance. A latch means maintains the accessory appliance within the pocket and is releasable to permit removal of the accessory appliance. The latch means includes a catch, with the floor care appliance, movable into and out of engagement with an opposite locking portion of the accessory appliance.

There is provided an actuating means, remote from the switch it actuates. A thin, flexible, lamella like link extends between the switch and actuating means, with the link moving in an enclosing channel for guidance.

The invention described provides a conventional switch and a switch actuating mechanism that includes an operator engagable pedal or button that, upon initiation, motivates a mechanism which turns the conventional switch on or off. A novel apexed slotted track arrangement tends to center a portion of the switch actuating mechanism.
