Systems and methods for a stabilized evaporable getter for increased handleability is provided. In certain embodiments, a method includes preparing a first getter material, a second getter material, and a metal material. Additionally, the method includes mixing the first getter material, the second getter material, and the metal material into a mixed getter material. Further, the method includes placing the mixed getter material into a getter holder. Also, the heat-treating the getter holder at a temperature below an activation temperature for an exothermic reaction of the mixed getter material but above a melting temperature of the metal material.

Stabilized evaporable getter for increased handleability

Systems and methods for oxide-based doping of an evaporable getter are described herein. In certain embodiments, a method includes mixing a first getter material with a second getter material to create a mixed getter material. The method also includes mixing an oxide dopant with the mixed getter material to create a doped getter material. Further, the method includes sealing the doped getter material within a device. Moreover, the method includes applying heat to the doped getter material to cause the doped getter material to emit a doped gas for deposition on internal surfaces of the device.

Oxide-based doping of evaporable getter

A multilayer mirror comprises a reflector section including a plurality of alternating layers of a high index material and a low index material, and a filter section over the reflector section. The filter section comprises a first filter layer including a low index material on a layer of high index material of the reflector section; a second filter layer on the first filter layer, the second filter layer comprising a high index material that is different than the high index material in the reflector section; and a third filter layer on the second filter layer, the third filter layer comprising a low index material. Each filter layer has an optical thickness greater than or equal to the optical thickness of each layer of the alternating layers. The filter section substantially blocks ultraviolet (UV) energy, thereby preventing UV energy from substantially impinging on the high index material of the reflector section.

Ultraviolet filter for ring laser gyroscope mirrors

Systems and methods for embodiments having an extra thick ultraviolet durability coating are described herein. For example, a system may include a laser block assembly. The system may also include a cavity in the laser block assembly. Further, the system may include a plurality of multilayer mirrors in the cavity. In certain embodiments, at least one multilayer mirror of the plurality of multilayer mirrors may include a plurality of alternating layers of a first optical material having a high index of refraction and a second optical material having a first low index of refraction. Additionally, the at least one multilayer mirror may include a multilayer durability coating disposed on the plurality of alternating layers.

Extra thick ultraviolet durability coating

A system that includes a high performance sensor to provide accurate measurements and at least one dissimilar sensor that is less accurate. The at least one dissimilar sensor is of a different type of sensor than the high performance sensor while providing a same type of measurement as the high performance sensor. The at least one dissimilar sensor has a longer life expectancy than the high performance sensor. An at least one controller is configured to start both the high performance sensor and the at least one dissimilar sensor at startup of the system, to turn off the high performance sensor after a select period of time, and to output measurement data based on measurements of the high performance sensor while the high performance sensor is on and output the measurement data based on the at least one dissimilar sensor when the high performance sensor is off.

System having an extended life high performance sensor

A solid state ring laser gyroscope comprises a laser block including a resonant ring cavity having an optical closed loop pathway; a plurality of mirror structures mounted on the block and including respective multilayer mirrors that reflect light beams around the closed loop pathway; and a pump laser assembly in optical communication with the closed loop pathway through one of the mirror structures. One or more of the multilayer mirrors includes a rare-earth doped gain layer operative to produce bidirectional optical amplification of counter-propagating light beams in the closed loop pathway. In some embodiments, the gain layer comprises a rare-earth dopant other than neodymium that is doped into a glassy host material comprising titania, tantalum oxide, alumina, zirconia, silicate glass, phosphate glass, tellurite glass, fluorosilicate glass, or non-oxide glass. Alternatively, the gain layer can comprise a neodymium dopant that is doped into a glassy host material other than silica.

Solid state ring laser gyroscope using rare-earth gain dopants in glassy hosts

A ring laser gyroscope comprises a laser block that includes a resonant internal cavity defined by a plurality of surfaces of an optical closed loop pathway, and a plurality of electrodes coupled to the laser block. The electrodes are configured to generate a pair of counter-propagating laser beams from a lasing gas in the optical closed loop pathway. The ring laser gyroscope also includes a field reducer shield comprising an electrically conductive material, with the field reducer shield located completely within the laser block. The field reducer shield is configured to modify an electric field generated by the plurality of electrodes to substantially prevent ions in the laser block from migrating toward the plurality of surfaces of the optical closed loop pathway.

A partially-insulated cathode for exciting plasma in a plasma chamber is provided. The partially-insulated cathode includes a conductive structure enclosing a cavity having a cavity surface and an insulating material contiguously covering a portion of the cavity surface from the cavity opening up to an insulation height that is less than a cavity height. Cross-sections of the cavity in X-Y planes have at least one respective cavity-width. A cavity opening has a diameter less than a minimum cavity-width of the at least one cavity-width.

Systems and methods for a ring laser gyroscope with electrically isolated dither motor are provided. In one embodiment, a ring laser gyroscope, the gyroscope comprises: a laser block comprising a discharge gas filled chamber ring, a cathode, an anode and at least one other electrode; a dither motor mechanically coupled to the laser block and to a sensor chassis, wherein the laser block is secured to the sensor chassis by the dither motor; and an electrical isolator positioned between the dither motor and the laser block, wherein the electrical isolator electrically isolates the dither motor from the sensor chassis.
