The invention includes an end cover () for disposition over an end of a mantel (). The end cover () presents a front corner () extending between an upper wall () and a lower wall () and is symmetrical rearwardly to a pair of side edges () from the front corner () whereby the end cover () may be disposed over either end of the mantel (). The upper wall () of the end cover () extends between the front walls () and the side edges () and the lower wall () extends between the front walls () and the side edges (). The upper wall () and the lower wall () each has the shape of a square with equal sides. The front walls () define interior surfaces complementary to the irregular pattern of the decorative face () of the mantel () and the end cover () overlies the mantel () the thickness of each front wall ().

Decorative molding

The invention includes an end cover () for disposition over an end of a mantel (). The end cover () presents a front corner () extending between an upper wall () and a lower wall () and is symmetrical rearwardly to a pair of side edges () from the front corner () whereby the end cover () may be disposed over either end of the mantel (). The upper wall () of the end cover () extends between the front walls () and the side edges () and the lower wall () extends between the front walls () and the side edges (). The upper wall () and the lower wall () each has the shape of a square with equal sides. The front walls () define interior surfaces complementary to the irregular pattern of the decorative face () of the mantel () and the end cover () overlies the mantel () the thickness of each front wall (44).

An exterior trim assembly for use with a window or door surround in a building structure comprises at least one mantle for affixing above the window or door, and first and second pilaster assemblies for affixing on the sides of the window or door. The mantle comprises a mantle base and a corresponding mantle cover to affix to and cover the mantle base. Each pilaster assembly comprises a base and a cover element affixed to the base wherein each of the bases has a plurality of regularly repeating reinforced structural sections. At least two pilaster cover plates are provided, each pilaster cover plate is affixed to and covering one of the first and second pilaster bases.

Decorative trim assemblies

A decorative shutter assembly includes a plurality of slats or boards arranged in a row presenting a decorative surface with side flanges projecting rearwardly. At least one cross member overlays each of the slats and presents a decorative cross surface with side cross flanges projecting rearwardly. Each cross slat includes at least one mating member affixed behind the cross slat decorative surface having a mating wall affixed to each of the decorative surfaces for affixing the plurality batten slats to the cross slat. Alternatively, a plurality of primary slats are arranged to present a decorative surface having side flanges projecting rearwardly and at least one end piece is attached to the primary slats the ends of the primary slats are received in the end piece for adjoining and aligning said primary slats, said end piece including a cross member traversing said the primary and having slats and slat ends integrated into the end piece, each of said slats and slat ends aligning with one of the primary slats.

Plastic batten shutter

A surround molding assembly for a doorway or window of a structure such as a residential home or a commercial building. In one embodiment, first and second pilaster bases receive first and second cover plates in recesses, wherein the recesses have a lip along at least two sides and the cover plates are mounted flush with the pilaster bases and covering the lips. Further, a mantle base having a central portion comprising regularly repeating reinforced sectional structural receives a mantle cover thereover such that the mantle base in generally obscured from view. The pilaster and mantle bases each include decorative ends integrally formed thereon.

A surround molding assembly for a doorway or window of a structure such as a residential home or a commercial building. In one embodiment, a decorative molding strip includes a base strip and a decorative strip interconnected by a living hinge. The decorative strip may be pivoted about the living hinge to a closed position over the base strip to hide internally located fasteners. In an embodiment, an extension cap is interconnected between a corner member and a decorative molding strip without external fasteners. In another preferred embodiment, a door surround molding assembly is provided which includes a pair of vertical molding members releasably secured via independent hanger strips along vertical sides of a doorway. The hanger strips include securing portions which releasably interengage with securing portions of the vertical molding members to eliminate the need for nails, threaded screws or like fastening elements to be driven through the vertical molding members to accomplish securing each to a wall portion of a structure. A mantle molding member is provided and fixedly secured over a top portion of the doorway without the need for external fastening elements. An installation support member is arranged within the molding member to support the outer surface of the molding member. An internal corner member is positioned adjacent each end of the mantle molding member and each directs water running onto the mantle molding member away from the doorway. In an alternative embodiment of the present invention a window header assembly is disclosed which incorporates a hanger member having a pair of flexible arm portions. The flexible arm portions are adapted to permit the hanger member to be secured to siding on the exterior surface of a structure such that the hanger member is positioned generally parallel to the siding, and further such that at least two points of contact are provided between the siding and the back surface of the hanger member. In another alternative embodiment a window header assembly is disclosed which is particularly adapted to be secured to a window header of a structure prior to installation of siding on the structure or over brick already installed on the exterior surface of the structure. In yet another alternative embodiment a header assembly is disclosed which is adapted to be secured to an uneven exterior surface of a structure such as aluminum or vinyl siding. A corner molding assembly is adapted for use with pilasters in a window or door surround of a structure having siding. The assembly has a base that is fastened to the structure. A corner block is positioned over the pilasters and siding and is fastened to the base through and access area in a front face portion. A decorative cover plate is secure to the front face portion to conceal the access area. In another aspect of the invention, a decorative trim strips has first and second interlocking ends that may be interlocked with the ends of other trim strips to make a continuous trim strip and eliminate gaps caused by expansion found to occur in conventional mitered joints. Another trim assembly, including a base having a decorative portion and a ring are used to conceal a base flange. The trim assembly may be used in conjunction with a mantle assembly to provide a decorative molding that directs water away from a door or window.
