The present teachings provide a medical system for delivering and deploying a medical implant, and the method of using thereof. Specifically, one aspect of the present teachings provides a medical system having an implant with an engagement loop, and a delivery system having an engagement wire and an engagement mechanism. During implant delivery, the engagement wire engages the engagement loop of the implant. The engagement wire further interacts with the engagement mechanism in order to prevent unintended disengagement of the engagement loop from the engagement wire. The present teaching also provide an implant release mechanism that is configured to break away from the implant pusher shaft. Specially, one aspect of the present teaching provides that the implant release mechanism being of one unit with the implant pusher shaft. To release the implant, a clinician simply breaks away the implant release mechanism from the rest of the implant delivery system.

Implant delivery system and method of use

Methods of implanting a device in the lumen of a blood vessel are described. The method includes providing a microcatheter and a device. The device includes a first hub, a second hub, a support structure including a plurality of struts disposed between the first hub and the second hub, and a layer of material disposed over the plurality of struts. The support structure has a low profile, radially constrained state with an elongated tubular configuration suitable for delivery from a microcatheter. The support structure also has an expanded state, a smooth outer surface, and has an axially shortened configuration relative to the radially constrained state. The microcatheter is advanced to a region of interest within the blood vessel. The support structure is advanced through the lumen of and out the distal end of the microcatheter where it expands to the expanded state.

Methods and devices for treatment of vascular defects

A system and method are provided for treating an aneurysm or other vessel disease or defect. The present disclosure includes an expandable device for placement in a vessel, where the mechanically expandable device includes a membrane. Also disclosed is a delivery device constructed and arranged to position the expandable device such that the exterior surface of the expandable device engages with the inner surface of the vessel and maintains a fluid pathway through said vessel.

Devices and methods for treating an aneurysm

The present teachings provide a medical system for delivering and deploying a medical implant, and the method of using thereof. Specifically, one aspect of the present teachings provides a medical system having an implant with an engagement loop, and a delivery system having an engagement wire and an interface. During implant delivery, the implant release control mechanism attaches the proximal end of the delivery system. During implant deployment, the implant release control mechanism detaches the proximal end of the delivery system.

Implant delivery systems and methods

Devices, systems and methods are disclosed for the formation of an arteriovenous fistula in the limb of the patient. Embodiments include a device for the creation, modification and maintenance of a fistula that includes an integral fistula creation assembly near its distal end that passes through the skin of the patient, through a first vessel such as an artery, and into a second vessel such as a vein. The fistula creation assembly preferably includes an anastomotic implant that is placed within the fistula to maintain long-term blood flow therethrough. The devices, systems and methods can be used to treat patients with one or more numerous ailments including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, congestive heart failure, hypertension, hypotension, respiratory failure, pulmonary arterial hypertension, lung fibrosis and adult respiratory distress syndrome.

Devices, systems and methods for creation of peripherally located fistula

Devices, systems and methods are disclosed for the formation of an arteriovenous fistula in the limb of the patient. Embodiments include an apparatus for the creation, modification and maintenance of a fistula, including the modification of an existing dialysis fistula; and a method of supplying oxygenated blood to the venous circulation of a patient. A kit of anastomotic implants is described which supports a broad base of patient anatomies and fistula locations. Devices, systems, and methods for peripheral arteriovenous fistula creation

An expandable support structure and methods of use for treatment of a patient's cerebral aneurysm are described. The support structure includes a plurality of elongate support members each having first and second ends that are gathered at the first end of the support structure. Each elongate support member starts at the first end of the support structure, extends to an apex at the second end of the support structure, and extends back to the first end of the support structure. The support structure has a low profile, radially constrained state with an elongated tubular configuration having a low profile suitable for delivery from a microcatheter. The support structure also has an expanded relaxed state that defines a substantially globular shape.

Device and method for establishing an artificial arterio-venous fistula

A vaso-occlusive device includes a microcoil formed into a minimum energy state secondary configuration comprising a plurality of curved segments, each defining a discrete axis, whereby the device, in its minimum energy state configuration, defines multiple axes. Confinement of the device within an aneurysm causes it to assume a three-dimensional configuration with a higher energy state than the minimum energy state. Because the minimum energy state configuration of the device is larger (in at least one dimension) than the aneurysm, the deployed device is constrained by its contact with the walls of the aneurysm from returning to its minimum energy state configuration. The engagement of the device with the aneurysm wall minimizes shifting or tumbling due to blood flow.

Microcoil vaso-occlusive device with multi-axis secondary configuration

An intravascular catheter that exhibits the combined features of superior flexibility, softness, radiopacity and oval/kink resistance. The catheter includes an elongate shaft having a proximal region, a distal region and a lumen extending therethrough. The proximal region of the shaft includes an inner lubricious polymer layer, a reinforcement layer and an outer layer. The reinforcement layer comprises a braid having one or more metallic members and a plurality of polymer members wherein each polymer member comprises a plurality of monofilaments, preferably formed of LCP. The polymer members of the braid provide improved flexibility and softness in addition to high burst pressure. The metallic member(s) of the braid provide improved radiopacity and oval/kink resistance. The catheter may also include a longitudinal member extending along the reinforcement layer.
