A pivotal connection between a handle and a housing, where the handle includes a cylindrical opening, and the housing includes a pair of cylindrical openings on opposite sides of the housing and concentric with the handle opening. A sleeve with a central tubular opening is disposed within the housing and handle openings, and has an outer diameter substantially equal to the diameter of the housing and handle openings. A cylindrical pin has an outer diameter greater than the inner diameter of the sleeve tubular opening and is wedged into the sleeve tubular opening to bulge the sleeve outwardly into beveled portions of the handle opening. The connection is formed by first aligning the handle between housing portions so that openings therethrough are disposed substantially concentric to one another. Then, a tubular sleeve is located within the housing and handle openings. Finally, a pin having an outer diameter greater than the inner diameter of the tubular sleeve opening is wedged into the sleeve opening.

Lock handle pivot structure

A window hinge having a track mountable to a window frame, a sash arm mountable to a window sash, and a plurality of pivotally interconnected links connecting the track to the sash arm to allow pivotal movement of the sash relative to the window frame. At least one of the links is pivotally connected to a shoe movable on the track and another of the links is pivotally connected to a block. The block includes a projecting stud and is elastically deformable to allow sliding of the block in the track with the stud retracted until snappingly securing the stud in a mounting slot in the track during field assembly. The hinge is mounted by first fixing the track to a window frame and the sash arm to a window sash, thereafter sliding the shoe and the block in the track to dispose the block stud adjacent the track slot, then fixing the block to the track with the block stud in the track slot.

A method for variably making tie bar guides usable to guide tie bars within locking system housings having different inner dimensions, which tie bar guides have a body portion including four sides substantially aligned with an opening through the body portion for slidably receiving a tie bar. A mold block defines an opening for the body portion of the guide and receives material in a substantially flowable state. A cylindrical channel is also provided in the mold block along one side of said body portion opening. A semi-cylindrical pin is secured within the channel, which pin is pivoted to open a selected portion of the channel to the mold block opening and thereby extend the mold block opening and contiguous open channel to a selected outer dimension. Further, at least one slot is provided along a second side of the body portion opening. Prior to flowing material into the mold block, a selected number of substantially uniform slats sufficient to block the slot at the selected outer dimension are inserted into the slot. Finally, material is flowed into the mold block opening for forming the selected tie bar guide, the material is allowed to harden into the shape of the selected tie bar guide, and the tie bar guide is removed from the mold block.

Method of making a variable molded part

A support arm for a pivoted window to hold the window open until such time as the locking mechanism for the window is manually released. The support arm has a sequencing latch mounted on one of a pair of sliders that are telescopically mounted relative to each other and a pivoted lock lever is pivoted on the other slider. In moving the sequencing latch to an active latch or lock position, the lock lever is pivoted from an active to an inactive position and is not effective to remove the sequencing latch in response to any movement of the sliders relative to each other until such time as the lock lever is manually moved from the inactive position to an active position wherein, upon relative movement between the sliders, the lock lever can engage and move the sequencing latch from the latch position to an unlatch position.

Support arm with passive lock system

A cam handle lock having a cam handle rotatably associated with an mounting base. The base has a central opening to receive a stem of the cam handle. A thin metal washer is fixed to an end of the stem and structurally arranged to coact with the base whereby the washer is flexed to spring load the cam handle and base into firm engagement with each other.
