There is a method comprising determining a beamforming configuration for a time period for reception of uplink data from a user device, determining uplink power control information based on the determined beamforming configuration and providing an indication of the determined uplink power control information to the user device for use in determining uplink transmit power for the time period.

Methods and apparatuses for controlling a handover of a device communicating via coexisting radios separated in time. It is determined whether to continue the communications via the coexisting radios during the handover and information is signaled to the device regarding communications via the coexisting radios based on the determination. The determination can include negotiations between a source and a target station. The source and/or the target station may determine whether to continue the communications via the coexisting radios during the handover, and selectively signaling information regarding communications during the handover via the coexisting radios based on the determination. The device, upon receiving signaling containing information whether to continue the communications via the coexisting radios during handover, processes the handover and selectively communicates via at least one of the coexisting radios during the handover based on the information.

Communication systems, such as the long tem evolution (LTE) of the third generation partnership project (3GPP) may benefit from various optimizations, such as optimizations related to smart phone technology. More particularly, diverse data applications may benefit from enhancements such as physical uplink control channel optimization. According to certain embodiments, a method can include configuring, with radio resource control signaling, a physical uplink control channel resource to one or more devices. The method can also include indicating to each device of the one or more devices, which part of the resource to use.

A method and an apparatus for controlling paging for a plurality of devices capable of wireless communication are disclosed in the invention. The method includes the following steps: paging locations in frames are determined for at least one device of the plurality of devices and a paging type indication indicative of a group paging or a dedicated paging is communicated to the at least one device to control calculation of paging locations according to the group paging mode or the dedicated paging mode in a predetermined manner. A station can include into a scheduling information entity an indication of aperiodic feedback messaging on a physical uplink control channel and dynamically send the scheduling information entity with the indication to a communication device configured for periodic feedback messaging to trigger aperiodic feedback messaging by the communication device on the physical uplink control channel. Upon receiving the scheduling information entity the device can determine that it includes the indication and in response to the determining send at least one aperiodic feedback message on the physical uplink control channel.
