A compound sensor system includes a first sensor, a second sensor, a memory that stores a module, and a processor coupled to the first sensor, the second sensor, and the memory. The first sensor is configured to detect a parameter that indicates a likelihood of having a user enter or leave a target area, and, in response, send a first command signal to the processor. The processor is configured to receive the first command signal from the first sensor and send a second command signal to the second sensor based on receiving the first command signal. The second sensor is configured to operate at a sleep mode and switch to an active mode upon receiving the second command signal, and during the active mode the second sensor is configured to determine if the user enters or leaves the target area.

Systems and methods for a compound sensor system

Described herein are systems and methods that may autonomously identify a person of a member pool based on pictures of the person, without requiring the person's cooperation. Contextual information of the picture(s) along with the picture(s) are utilized. Contextual information may be the information that is related to current circumstances when the picture was taken. A system may comprise cameras that map appearances to visual data; a mapping function that maps identities and camera information to generate contextual information and a set of a priori probabilities; recognition functions that map the visual data to another set of probabilities, which match each of the visual data with each of the one of the identities; and a decision function that combines the set of a priori probabilities and the another set of probabilities to determine one of the plurality of the identities.

Systems and methods for member facial recognition based on context information

A system of user detection includes a camera configured to rotate to a plurality of positions, a memory that stores a module, and a processor coupled, locally or remotely, to the camera. The processor is configured to send a command to the camera to cause the camera to (1) rotate to a position from the plurality of positions, and (2) capture a photo or a video clip at the position. The processor is configured to receive the photo or the video clip from the camera; determine whether a user is captured in the photo or the video clip; divide the photo or the video clip into a plurality of zones; determine a zone from the plurality of zones where the user appears in the photo or the video clip; and determine whether the user is associated with a device based on information of the position and the zone.

Systems and methods for user detection and recognition

A method for recognizing the face of a user that uses a device in a facility includes receiving a photo of the user and extracting a face image of the user from the photo. The method includes receiving a full candidate face set of all registered users, a first list of registered users that are within the facility, and a second list of registered users that are using other devices in the facility. The method includes generating a reduced candidate face set from the full candidate face set by excluding at least one of (1) candidate faces corresponding to users that are not included in the first list or (2) candidate faces corresponding to users that are included in the second list, from the full candidate face set. The method also includes determining whether the face image corresponds to a candidate face of the reduced candidate face set.

Systems and methods for efficient face recognition

Systems and methods are provided for tracking, collecting, or analyzing user data for gyms. For example, the system can include a mobile device associated with a user and a tracking device attached to an exercise device. The tracking device can be configured to detect when the mobile device or the user enters within a proximity value of the tracking device and notify the mobile device with a notification signal and identification information of the exercise device. The mobile device can be configured to receive the notification signal from the tracking device, detect a received signal strength (RSS) of the notification signal, and determine whether the RSS is above or at a pre-determined threshold. When the RSS is above or at the pre-determined threshold, the mobile device records the identification information of the exercise device. When the RSS is below the pre-determined threshold, the mobile device ignores the notification signal.

Systems and methods for tracking, collecting, and analyzing user data for gyms

Systems and techniques relating to wireless communications are described. A described technique includes determining a first frequency offset based on a received preamble of a wireless communication signal and a known preamble, the received preamble having been generated based on a spreading sequence and the known preamble, determining a second frequency offset based on the received preamble and the known preamble, and processing at least a portion of the wireless communication signal based on the first frequency offset and the second frequency offset. Determining the first frequency offset can include performing a multi-chip-level differential frequency offset acquisition that uses two or more chips associated with the received preamble. Determining the second frequency offset can include performing a symbol-level differential frequency offset acquisition that uses two or more symbols associated with the received preamble, where each of the two or more symbols are encoded by two or more chips.

The present disclosure describes techniques for identity-based RF circuitry compensation. In some aspects data from a wireless device is received via radio frequency circuitry, the data including an identifier that uniquely identifies the wireless device. Impairments of the radio frequency circuitry are estimated based on the received data and then the estimated impairments are associated with the identifier of the wireless device. In response to subsequently receiving data that includes the identifier, the radio frequency circuitry is compensated using the estimated impairments.

Method and apparatus for compensating impairments in radio frequency circuitry of a wireless device

Systems and methods for using non-crystal-based reference oscillators in the transmission and reception of frequency-modulated signals are disclosed. To protect against intrusion on neighboring designated frequency bands, guard bands, having a collective width greater than the total expected error based on the contribution of the frequency error from the non-crystal-based oscillators in the transmitter and/or receiver, can be designated. To protect against inter-channel interference within a designated frequency band, transmitters and receivers can include static sub-bandwidths wider than any possible total frequency error, such that it would be impossible for a transmitter or receiver to attempt to communicate on an unintended sub-band. The determination of the total possible frequency error can be determined dynamically based on the correlation between a received training sequence and a known pattern before or a communication session to avoid or correct for frequency offset or drift due to the use of non-crystal-based reference oscillators.

System and method for tuning a receiver by iteratively dividing a frequency band into multiple sub-bands

Systems and techniques relating to wireless communications are described. A described technique includes operating a device, that includes a receive filter, in different modes comprising an operational mode and a predistortion training mode, where the receive filter is configured to operate at a first bandwidth during the operational mode and operate at a second, wider bandwidth during the predistortion training mode; generating a digital transmit signal; receiving a digital receive signal via the receive filter, causing, in the predistortion training mode, the digital receive signal to be based on an amplified analog version of the digital transmit signal, the amplified analog version being produced by a power amplifier having a nonlinear characteristic(s); estimating predistortion parameter value(s) using samples of the digital transmit signal and samples of the digital receive signal; and using the predistortion parameter value(s) to predistort digital signals to compensate for the nonlinear characteristic(s) of the power amplifier.

Systems, methods, and other embodiments associated with preamble detection based on repeated preamble codes are described. According to one embodiment, an apparatus is provided that wirelessly receives a signal and calculates a differential output corresponding to a multiplication of the signal and a delayed version of the signal. A cross correlation is performed between the differential output and a known preamble pattern to produce a cross correlation output. One or more peaks are detected in the cross correlation. The detected peaks are used in subsequent processing to detect the known preamble pattern in the wirelessly received signal.

Preamble detection based on repeated preamble codes

A radio frequency transmitting system which includes first and second amplifiers, a power detector, and a calibration module. The first amplifier amplifies an input signal to generate an amplified signal in accordance with a programmable gain. The second amplifier transmits an output signal based on the amplified signal. The output signal is transmitted at a particular power by the second amplifier. The power detector measures the particular power at which the output signal is transmitted by the second amplifier. The calibration module adjusts the programmable gain of the first amplifier by a calibration offset so that the particular power measurement matches a predetermined power. The calibration module includes offset generation modules that each generate a respective calibration offset candidate based on the particular power measurement. The calibration module also includes a selection module that selects, based on the predetermined power, one of the calibration offset candidates as the calibration offset.

Closed-loop power control using multiple feedback loops

Systems and techniques relating to wireless communications are described. A described technique includes receiving information that is indicative of a wireless communication signal transmitted by a wireless communication device, the wireless communication signal having been generated based on a spreading sequence and a known preamble; determining, based on the received information and the known preamble, an estimation of a first frequency offset using two or more locations for encoding elements associated with the spreading sequence; determining, based on the received information, the known preamble, and the first frequency offset, an estimation of a second frequency offset using two or more locations for symbols associated with the known preamble, the second frequency offset being different from the first frequency offset; and processing the received information based on a combination of the first frequency offset and the second frequency offset.
