The present disclosure provides an adhesive assemblies such as an adhesive assembly for mounting an object to a surface, the assembly comprising: a first adhesive construction including a first major surface and a second major surface, the first adhesive construction including a first adhesive layer, a first core adjacent to the first adhesive layer, the core comprising core material and including first and second major surfaces; and a first arranged pattern of recesses on at least the first major surface of the first core, each recess terminating in a membrane, wherein the membrane is defined by a bottom surface of the recess and comprises core material; and a first adhesive interface at the bottom surface or within the membrane; and a stiffening carrier laminated to the second major surface of the first adhesive construction, the stiffening carrier having a higher stiffness than the first adhesive construction.

Adhesive assemblies permitting enhanced weight bearing performance with damage free removal

The present disclosure provides adhesive articles that can be removed from surfaces without damage by having reduced or eliminated contribution of a core backing to peel force generated by the adhesive during removal. In some instances, this can be accomplished by a core that loses structural integrity in a direction normal to a plane defined by a major surface. In other instances, the contribution is reduced by compromising the interface between the core and a peelable adhesive layer.

A method of making an adhesive backed web, wherein the adhesive layer of such web has partially embedded filaments projecting therefrom. The filaments may comprise a thermoplastic material or a hot melt adhesive. The filaments are contacted to a major surface of a liner material then pressed partially thereinto. An adhesive layer, as from an adhesive backed film, is then laminated to the filament-containing liner, allowing the adhesive layer to pick up the filaments.

Methods for preparing composite non-woven fibers-in-fibers, otherwise referred to as composite polymeric fibers having an island-in-sea morphology, are described. The composite polymeric fibers may be prepared by a method that includes melt-blowing a blend of a first polymer and an immiscible second polymer to form the composite polymer fibers. The first polymer forms a matrix that surrounds the second polymer. Typically, the second polymer forms nanofibers within the matrix of the first polymer. The composite polymeric fiber may be treated with a solvent that selectively dissolves the matrix of the composite polymeric fiber and that does not dissolve the nanofibers of the composite polymeric fiber, and the nanofibers then may be collected for further treatment or use.
