An image transfer system for transferring an image from a first medium, comprising an image transfer apparatus and a computer. The image transfer apparatus has a scanner for scanning the image on the first medium, and a display. The computer is removably connected to the image transfer apparatus. The computer has a computer display. When the computer is connected to the image transfer apparatus, the computer has selectable features of an operating menu of the image transfer apparatus available for display on the computer display. At least one of the features is unavailable for selection in an image transfer apparatus menu available for display on the computer display when the computer is not connected to the transfer apparatus.

Image transfer apparatus

A method, computing machine and computer readable medium provides a computer user with the ability to route a print job to a service bureau over the Internet. The computer receives a print command input for printing a document. In response to the print command, the document is routed over the Internet to a service bureau for printing. Routing may involve activating a communications browser program in the computer and transmitting the document to a server associated with the service bureau. An Internet print web page including information identifying print job options and a print order form is retrieved from the server and displayed on the computer screen. In response to ther user's selection of a print job option identified on the print job order form, the print job and order form is transmitted to the service bureau.

The system provides electronic identification of a condition of a replaceable component and automatically electronically sends an offer to purchase a replacement part upon identification of a threshold condition.

Supply ordering apparatus

A reprographic system is provided and includes a digital multi-function reprographic machine for reproducing copies of original images and a programmed personal computer (PC) subsystem. The programmed personal computer (PC) subsystem is connected to the multi-function reprographic machine for processing and controlling original images to be reproduced by the multi-function reprographic machine, and includes a work station monitor having a user screen, a machine-client dialog box, and a drop-down reduction/enlargement (R/E) window. Method for supply ordering

A user interface for an image reproducing system that allows the system operator to visit system controls and features in an operator defined order. In this manner, the system operator avoids tabbing or scrolling through unwanted system controls and features. The user interface may utilize an image reproduction operation library that provides visual representations of objects that encapsulate attributes of the imaging system controls and features. The operator may select the visual representations using a pointing device in any desired order to define a preferred image reproduction sequence.

Operator-defined visitation sequence of client user interface controls

An electronic assembly comprising an image transfer device for reading and transferring an image from a first medium, and a computer. The image transfer device includes a reader for reading the image on the first medium, and a display for displaying an image transfer menu for affecting transfer of the image. The computer is removably connected to the image transfer device. When the image transfer device is not connected to the computer, the image transfer device has a first type of the image transfer menu available for display on the display of the device. When the image transfer device is connected to the computer, the transfer device has a second type of the image transfer menu available for display on the display of the device. The second type of menu includes enhanced features for operating the image transfer device which transparently use the computer processor and memory to effect an image transfer according to the enhanced features.

Image transfer system

A method of providing support to a user of a computer peripheral includes sensing a peripheral indicia at a computer and registering the peripheral and downloading from a server additional information about the peripheral based on the peripheral indicia. The peripheral indicia includes any of a model number, a part number, a serial number, a date of manufacturer and a configuration indicia. Registering the peripheral is performed by launching a communications browser to connect to the server. The method also senses a peripheral condition at the computer where the peripheral condition includes either an error code or a code indicative of a consumable reaching a predetermined threshold or both. This method accesses the server at an address defined by the peripheral condition, and the server provides the browser with additional information about the peripheral condition.

Context sensitive web-based user support

An e-mail option that allows a user to &ldquo;cc: without attachments&rdquo; any electronic mail (e-mail) message. Thus, a sender can send an e-mail message to a primary recipient that includes an attachment and, contemporaneously, send a copy of the original e-mail message to a secondary recipient without including the attachment. If there is to be more than one secondary recipient, the user can choose which, if any, of the secondary recipients are to receive the e-mail message with the attachment. In this manner, the sender can alert a secondary recipient, or designated secondary recipients, that a document has been sent, without needlessly including the attachment that is being sent to the primary recipient.
