A transmitter provides an optical signal for transmitting a quantum key over a network. The transmitter comprises a first generator configured to generate a quantum signal, the quantum signal comprising a sequence of frames. The transmitter comprises a second generator configured to generate a pilot signal. The pilot signal comprises a sequence of signatures that is in synchrony with the sequence of frames. The transmitter comprises an optical modulator configured to generate the optical signal by modulating an optical carrier based on the quantum signal and the pilot signal. A corresponding receiver is proposed for receiving the optical signal and for extracting the quantum key.

Transmitter and receiver for transmitting and receiving a quantum key

A continuous variable quantum key distribution system comprises a transmitter and a receiver. The first quantum signal has a first polarization and is associated with first quadrature components and the second quantum signal has a second polarization and is associated with second quadrature components. The receiver receives the quantum signals transmitted by the transmitter via a quantum communication channel; estimates a channel matrix representing the polarization rotation of the first and second polarization caused by the quantum communication channel; modifies the received first and second quantum signals on the basis of the polarization rotation; and uses the modified received first and second quantum signals for generating a secret key. The transmitter may modify the transmitted first quantum signal and the transmitted second quantum signal based on the polarization rotation and use the modified transmitted first quantum signal and the modified transmitted second quantum signal for generating a secret key.

An optical cross-connect node includes a first optical switching switch, a second optical switching switch, a wave-dropping wavelength switching switch, a wave-adding wavelength switching switch, and a pass-through dimension switching switch. The first optical switching switch sends the first optical signal to the wave-dropping wavelength switching switch. The present disclosure discloses a method and an apparatus for monitoring chromatic dispersion in an optical communications network. The method includes: performing coherent mixing of a to-be-monitored signal with a first optical signal and a second optical signal to obtain two analog electrical signals, where center frequencies of the first optical signal and the second optical signal are located on two sides of a center frequency of the to-be-monitored signal, and a difference between the center frequencies of these two optical signals equals a Baud rate; converting the two analog electrical signals into two corresponding first time domain power signals; determining a value of a time delay between these two time domain power signals; and obtaining, according to a correspondence between the value of the time delay and the chromatic dispersion, the fiber chromatic dispersion generated in a process of transmitting the to-be-monitored signal.

The present invention discloses an optical switching apparatus, an optical cross-connect node, and an optical signal switching method. The optical switching apparatus includes: N input ports, N OAM modulators in a one-to-one correspondence with the N input ports, an OAM splitter, and M output ports, where the M output ports are in a one-to-one correspondence with M OAM modes; a first input port of the input ports is configured to input a first optical signal, a target output port of the first optical signal is a first output port; a first OAM modulator corresponding to the first input port modulates the first optical signal into an optical signal of a first OAM mode corresponding to the first output port; the OAM splitter transmits, to the first output port, the first optical signal received from the first OAM modulator; and the first output port outputs the first optical signal.

Signal transmission method, signal receiving method, passive optical network PON device, and PON system

The disclosure provides an optical network system, an Optical Line Terminal (OLT), an Optical Network Unit (ONU) and an Optical Distribution Network (ODN) apparatus. The system includes: an OLT configured to modulate and encode at least one line of time-division-multiplexed downlink signals, synthesize the downlink signals encoded into one line and then output it, receive uplink signals, and decode the uplink signals received and then output them; an ODN configured to separate the downlink signals received into multiple lines and then output them, synthesize the uplink signals received into one line, and then output it to the OLT; and ONUs configured to receive the downlink signals output from the ODN, decode the downlink signals received and output them, encode one line of time-division-multiplexed uplink signals, and output the uplink signals encoded to the ODN. Decoding of the downlink signals and encoding of the uplink signals can further be implemented by the ODN. By means of the solution of the disclosure, a hybrid Passive Optical Network (PON) system based on a Time Division Multiplexing (TDM) technology and an Optical Code Division Multiple Access (OCDMA) technology.
