A synthetic turf system and method includes turf tufted from monofilament fibers of a thermoplastic polymer where about 1 in about 32 tuft rows comprise at least one antistatic filament per tuft. Each antistatic filament has a first nonconductive polymeric component coextensive with a second non-conductive component. One or more of the antistatic filaments substantially reduces static electrical discharge within the turf. The thermoplastic polymer for each fiber may comprise at least one of nylon, polyethylene, polypropylene, and polyester. Each tuft of the tufted turf may be twisted and each tuft may be slit to form multiple ends. The turf system may comprise stitched turf. Each antistatic filament may comprise a carbon core surrounded by a non-conductive sheath, wherein a ratio of the antistatic filament per number of tuft rows may comprise at least one of 1:2, 1:4, 1:8, and 1:16.

Synthetic turf system made with antistatic yarns and method of making

A vertically draining, particulate confinement structure may prevent side to side migration of particulate materials and may provide a way to ensure a consistent fill depth of the particulate materials. The particulate materials may include rubber granules. The vertical draining feature of the system may prevent water from accumulating on the turf surface by providing adequate vertical drainage. The vertical draining feature may be attributed to the combination of the turf surface with a confinement structure and the particulate materials that support this turf surface. The confinement structure and particulate materials also inhibit underlayment migration of the turf surface.

System and method for absorbing shocks impacts while providing water drainage

An apparatus for cleaning a floor surface having weight support members thereon for carrying the weight of the apparatus into the floor surface includes a brush having a baseplate with an array of bristles. The brush has a plurality of supply passages, each of which communicates with a portion of the bristle array. The brush is loosely attached by a flexible torque transmitting coupling to the shaft for rotation about a centerline of rotation. The brush is attached to a motor shaft in such a way that, in use, the brush is responsive to irregularities in the floor surface as the apparatus is moved thereover by moving in a direction generally parallel to a centerline of rotation and/or in a plane generally perpendicular thereto. A baffle mounted to the top surface of the brush so as to surround the supply passages. In use, a foam cleaning agent is dispensed onto a location on the top surface of the brush inwardly of the supply passages. Rotation of the brush generates a force urging dispensed foam cleaning agent in a radially outwardly direction from the centerline of rotation toward the baffle. The baffled deflects the foam cleaning agent into the supply passages and into the bristles of the brush.

Floor cleaning apparatus having a floating brush

This invention relates to an improved method for ply-twisting nylon yarns at twisting speeds greater than 6000 rpm. More particularly, the invention involves coating the nylon fibers with less than about 1% by weight of finish containing an alkyl polyoxyalkylene carboxylate ester lubricant composition. The resulting ply-twisted yarn is especially suitable for use as pile in carpets.
