A ground imaging system for use on a guided aerobody includes one or more lenses designed to receive EM radiation from a ground level, a filter substrate having a plurality of filters, a sensor array designed to receive the EM radiation from the filter substrate, and a processing device coupled to the sensor array. The filter substrate is located at a focal plane of the one or more lenses such that the filter substrate receives the EM radiation from the one or more lenses. The plurality of filters includes at least polarization filters and multispectral filters. The processing device is designed to analyze multispectral and polarization signatures of the electromagnetic radiation from identified objects at the ground level and determine that one or more of the objects is not a desired target based at least on the hyperspectral and polarization signatures of the one or more objects.

A mechanical hard stop for a sensor system includes a base for fixation to a gimbal or static structure, a movable stop member for engagement with a fixed stop member, and an actuator. The movable stop member has a disengaged position, proximate the base, and an engaged position, spaced apart from the base. The actuator is operably connected to the movable stop member to displace the movable stop member between the disengaged position and the engaged position according to a sensor selection received by the sensor system. Sensor systems and imaging methods are also described.

The system and method for imaging having filter containing polarized elements, multispectral elements or both being oscillated in circular or linear motion so each individual pixel will view a scene thru the individual filters. The motion of the filter is synchronized with a frame rate of an imager. In one example this is accomplished by micro actuators. Each pixel sampling feeds a processor detection algorithm that determines if a multispectral/polarization signature is present in the scene.

An optical system mount arrangement includes a stop, a mount for an optical element, and an electromagnet. The mount has a first position and a second position, the mount abutting the stop in the first position and the mount spaced apart from the stop in the second position. The electromagnet is fixed relative to the stop and is arranged to exert a holding force when the mount is in the first position. Optical systems, vehicles carrying optical systems, and methods moving optical elements in optical systems are also described.

Optical system mounts

An optical system mount assembly can include a first post and a movable mount configured to mount an optical element, the moveable mount being configured to move relative to the first post assembly between a first position and a second position. The assembly can include a first magnetic latch system member disposed on or within the first post, and a second magnetic latch system member disposed on or within the moveable mount such that the first magnetic latch system member magnetically interacts with the second magnetic latch system member to magnetically latch the moveable mount to the first post in the first position.

The present disclosure generally relates to HDR imaging techniques, and more specifically to HDR imaging techniques for use when a scene is moving. For time delay integration, the same scene location is repeatedly imaged on sequential rows, allowing for different gain values and/or exposure times to be utilized in different rows. The present disclosure utilizes a static or dynamic selection of gain values and/or exposure times on each row to enable stitching of the rows for high dynamic range.
