A rocker switch includes a rocker switch housing and a first magnet sensor. The rocker switch further includes a button rotatably mounted to the rocker switch housing about a first axis. The rocker switch also includes a magnet holder in contact with the button and rotatably mounted to the rocker switch housing about a second axis different from the first axis. The magnet holder holds a first magnet having a first polarity and a second magnet having a second polarity different from the first polarity. When the button is in a first button position, the button biases the magnet holder to a first magnet holder position, in which the first magnet is proximate to the magnet sensor. When the button is in a second button position, the button biases the magnet holder to a second magnet holder position, in which the second magnet is proximate to the magnet sensor.

Magnetic control switch

A contactless control switch that is resistant to influence from external magnetic fields is disclosed. The switch includes a switch housing, a button moveably mounted to the housing that has at least one protrusion formed on an underside thereof, a circuit board mounted to the housing and including at least one magnet sensor, and a magnet holder positioned adjacent each respective magnet sensor, the magnet holder housing a positive field magnet and a negative field magnet therein and being rotatably mounted to the housing. A respective protrusion interacts with the magnet holder responsive to an actuation of the button by a user, so as to position one of the positive field magnet and the negative field magnet proximate to its respective sensor and the other of the positive field magnet and the negative field magnet distal to its respective sensor.

A switch guard for preventing accidental actuation of a control switch is disclosed. The switch guard includes a rigid wall structure comprising a pair of side walls and a pair of end walls arranged to accommodate positioning of the control switch therein, each of the pair of end walls including at least one opening formed therein. The switch guard also includes a mating feature provided at each of the end walls of the wall structure, with each mating feature being a separate component from the rigid wall structure and being configured to selectively translate through the at least one opening formed in the respective end wall between a first position and a second position to secure the switch guard about the control switch.

A switch includes a switch housing, a button, a circuit board having at least one magnet sensor, and a magnet holder, including at least one magnet, movably mounted to the housing to move responsive to an actuation of the button. A vane interrupter in the switch includes a passage structure positioned proximate to each magnet sensor such that a respective magnet is movable at least partially within a passage defined by the passage structure, and a flange structure having a first flange and a second flange positioned on opposing ends of the passage structure, with the first flange positioned adjacent a portion of the magnet holder holding the magnet and with the second flange positioned adjacent a surface of the circuit board opposite a surface on which the at least one magnet sensor is positioned, such that the circuit board is positioned between the magnet holder and the second flange.

A contactless rotary pull switch includes a switch knob assembly rotatable about an axis to a plurality of rotational positions and actuatable to at least one pull position, with the switch knob assembly including a knob element and a rotational shaft fixedly coupled thereto. A rotational magnet is coupled to the rotational shaft so as to rotate therewith, and at least one pull magnet is positioned separately from the rotational magnet. A rotational sensor senses a magnetic field generated by the rotational magnet to identify a rotational position of the switch knob assembly and at least one pull sensor senses a magnetic field generated by the pull magnet(s) to identify a pull position of the switch knob assembly. A rotatable arm member selectively enables/inhibits sensing of the magnetic field generated by the pull magnet(s) by the at pull sensor(s), to identify distinct pull positions of the switch knob assembly.

Contactless rotary pull switch

A switch includes a switch housing, and a button moveably mounted to the housing. A profile is disposed on the underside of the button and has a profile contour that provides the tactile feel of the button as it is engaged by the user. A spring biased plunger has one end that engages the profile contour. A printed circuit board is mounted to the housing and includes a magnet sensor. A magnet holder includes at least one magnet. A vane interrupter has at least one passage having an opening proximate to a magnetic sensor. The magnet holder is moveably mounted to the housing such that the magnet is selectively moveable at least partially within the passage to a position where the magnet can be detected by the sensor.

A leaded device socket includes a lead guide that contacts and urges the leads on an electrical component into the correct position in the device when the component is pressed into the socket. The leaded device socket may also include a receiver for retaining a functional portion of the electrical component in a predetermined position in the circuit. The lead guide and receiver may both be integrally molded with the socket.

An operating mechanism is provided for a circuit interrupter, such as a battery disconnect apparatus, including a housing and a number of stationary electrical contacts enclosed by the housing. The operating mechanism includes a cam member and a two-bar linkage member having a first bar, a second bar, and a pivot member disposed between the two bars. A movable contact assembly includes at least one movable electrical contact, and is cooperable with the cam member and two-bar linkage member to move the movable electrical contact into and out of electrical contact with the stationary electrical contacts. An actuating assembly pivots the cam member between a first position corresponding to maintaining the movable electrical contact in electrical contact with the stationary electrical contacts; and a second position corresponding to releasing the movable contact assembly in order that the movable electrical contact is movable out of electrical contact with the stationary electrical contacts.

An actuator subassembly is provided for a rocker switch including a housing, a plunger and a number of contact elements. The actuator subassembly includes an operating member movably coupled to the rocker switch housing at or about an opening, and including at least one projection which extends into a cavity of the housing. A sub-actuator is removably coupled to such projection and includes a shaped portion, a number of contacting portions and a depth. The shaped portion cooperates with a plunger to provide a plurality of operating characteristics of the operating member, including a plurality of positions thereof. Each contacting portion contacts a corresponding one of the contact elements when the operating member is disposed in a corresponding one of the positions. When the actuator subassembly is coupled to the housing, the depth of the sub-actuator occupies less than one-third of the width of the cavity.

A battery disconnect includes a housing, battery and load terminals, separable contacts electrically connected between the battery and load terminals, an operating mechanism structured to open and close the contacts, and a manual operator cooperating with the operating mechanism to open and close the contacts. A current sensor is structured to sense current flowing between the battery and load terminals. A circuit cooperates with the current sensor and the operating mechanism to trip open the contacts responsive to arc fault, overload and short circuit conditions associated with the sensed current. The circuit includes a first input structured to receive a remote on/off signal and a second input structured to receive an inhibit signal. The circuit cooperates with the operating mechanism to open and close the contacts responsive to the on/off signal, and to inhibit detection of the arc fault, overload and short circuit conditions responsive to the inhibit signal.

Direct current and battery disconnect apparatus

A system for current sensing includes a first Hall effect sensor and a second Hall effect sensor constructed to provide feedback indicating current flow through a conductor susceptible to external magnetic flux. A housing is configured to position the first Hall effect sensor and the second Hall effect sensor about the conductor to provide generally magnitude equal feedback of the current flow through the conductor and generally polarity opposite feedback of the external magnetic flux.

The present invention is directed to a system for current sensing including a first Hall effect sensor and a second Hall effect sensor constructed to provide feedback indicating current flow through a conductor susceptible to external magnetic flux. A housing is configured to position the first Hall effect sensor and the second Hall effect sensor about the conductor to provide generally magnitude equal feedback of the current flow through the conductor and generally polarity opposite feedback of the external magnetic flux.
