A system and method of determining system status in a vehicle system. The method including collecting, by a computing system, a plurality of data associated with a test specimen and the vehicle system, selecting a relevant data set of the plurality of data, the selecting based on at least one correlation coefficient associated with the plurality of data, and transforming at least a portion of the selected relevant data to form a transformed data set, the transforming based on mathematical properties. The method also includes collecting statistics associated with the selected relevant data set and the transformed data set to form a statistics data set, classifying the selected relevant data set, transformed data set, and the statistics data set; and predicting a status of a system based on the classifying.

Method and system for predicting system status

A method of identifying and retrieving component digital images for component fault analysis includes generating a known-fault database of digital images of known faults of a previously analyzed component and corresponding remedial actions. The method also includes accessing the known-fault database with a digital image of a current fault of a new component. The method additionally includes comparing the digital image of the current fault with the digital images in the known-fault database based on a computed target characteristic. The method also includes sorting the digital images in the known-fault database in order based on a magnitude of the computed target characteristic for each respective digital image in the known-fault database relative to the digital image of the current fault. The method further includes outputting the sorted digital images to facilitate correlation of the current fault to a particular known fault and identifying the corresponding remedial action.

In accordance with an exemplary embodiment, a cutoff duration estimation system for a vehicle includes a vehicle model module having a vehicle profile model of the vehicle, a front vehicle detection module having a front vehicle deceleration model operable to determine a rate of close between the vehicle and a front vehicle, and a cutoff duration estimation system operable to determine an amount of time an engine of the vehicle will be operating in an overrun condition based on the vehicle profile model and the front vehicle deceleration model.
