Method and apparatus for controlling the feed of semifinished products in a tyre building process

A process and a plant for producing tyres for vehicle wheels are described. Building of a crown structure of the tyre includes building a crossed belt structure on a substantially cylindrical first forming drum, transferring the crossed belt structure from the first forming drum to an annular holding member, positioning a second forming drum in a radially inner position with respect to the annular holding member, transferring the crossed belt structure from the annular holding member to the second forming drum by radially expanding the second forming drum until it is brought into contact with the crossed belt structure so as to toroidally shape the crossed belt structure, and depositing at least one zero degrees belt layer on the second forming drum in a radially outer position with respect to the toroidally-shaped crossed belt structure.

Process and plant for producing tyres for vehicle wheels

A method for building belt assemblies for tyres for vehicle wheels is described. The method includes building a crossed belt structure on a forming drum. Depending on the type of tyre to be produced, the method selects whether to build a belt assembly having a cylindrical shaping or a belt assembly having a toroidal shaping. In order to build a belt assembly having a cylindrical shaping, a zero degrees belt layer is deposited on the forming drum in a radially outer position with respect to the crossed belt structure. In order to build a belt assembly having a toroidal shaping, the crossed belt structure is picked up from the forming drum. The crossed belt structure is then toroidally shaped and transferred onto another forming drum. A zero degrees belt layer is then deposited on the other forming drum in a radially outer position with respect to the toroidally shaped crossed belt structure.

Method for building belt assemblies for tyres for vehicle wheels

A green tyre () for bicycles is built, comprising at least one carcass ply () having axially opposite end flaps () engaged with respective bead cores () and a tread band () applied in a radially outer position around said at least one carcass ply (). The built tyre () removed from the building drum, is profiled so as to translate the tread band () in a radially outer direction with respect to the bead cores (), so as to impart a cross-sectional convex profile to the tyre () in a radially outer direction. The profiled tire is engaged by means of a transfer member () comprising a gripping device () which holds it hanging and loads it into a vulcanisation mould () by axially positioning an axial centreline plane (M) of the green tyre at an axial reference () arranged at a predetermined height along a reference axis (K) of a central body () of the vulcanisation mould ().

The present disclosure is directed to a process and an apparatus for cutting a continuous rubber-covered belt in a process for building tyres for vehicle wheels, wherein the apparatus comprises a cutting group, in turn comprising: a knife formed by a first half-part and a second half-part and movable along a cutting direction that is tilted with respect to a supply direction of a rubber-covered belt placed beneath the knife. The process comprises: lifting a lifting element placed below the continuous rubber-covered belt and at the cutting zone, until a portion of rubber-covered belt is lifted, and lowering the single first-half part of the knife, making it slide with respect to the second half-part.

Process and apparatus for handling green tyres for bicycles

A carcass sleeve is situated in a radially external position with respect to a toroidal forming drum, arranged in a first radially contracted operative condition. The carcass sleeve is shaped according to a toroidal configuration while the forming drum is positioned inside the carcass sleeve. During shaping of the carcass sleeve, the forming drum is radially expanded up to a second radially expanded operative condition. Upon completed shaping, the carcass sleeve is coupled to the forming drum in the second operative condition. The forming drum, coupled to the shaped carcass sleeve, is arranged in proximity to at least one device for building at least one belt layer at a radially external position relative to the shaped carcass sleeve.

In building tyres, an intermediate portion of a carcass structure is built at a time on a respective forming drum within an intermediate forming line. The forming drum with the intermediate portion of the carcass structure is made available at a first transfer location. The intermediate portion of the carcass structure is completed through n completion locations with n&#x2265;1 and then transferred for the subsequent assembling with a crown structure to a second transfer location. At an operating moment in which the first transfer location is occupied by a forming drum coming from the intermediate forming line or intended for the intermediate forming line, from one to n locations selected from the n completion locations and the second transfer location are occupied by respective forming drums.

Method, process and plant for controlling the manufacture of tyres for vehicle wheels

A vulcanised bicycle tyre () is retained by exerting a thrust action on the radially inner surface of the tyre directed radially away from the geometric axis of rotation thereof (X). An unloading device () provided with at least one frame () and at least one support member () of the tyre () is positioned with respect to the tyre () by aligning it with the geometric axis of rotation (X) of the tyre. The support member () is handled with respect to the frame () towards an operating position in which it is close to the radially outer surface () of the tyre (). Finally, the radial thrust action on the radially inner surface () of the tyre () is interrupted for releasing said tyre () with the radially outer surface () thereof on a contact surface () of the support member ().

Process and apparatus for unloading a vulcanised bicycle tyre from a vulcanisation press

A station for checking the formation of beads of tyres, including: a forming drum for arranging a carcass sleeve with formed beads with the carcass sleeve in rotation, an image acquisition system for acquiring at least an image of a circumferential portion of external surface including the respective edges of the end flaps turned up; a processing unit for processing the image in order to determine a circumferential trend of the axial distance of each edge from an axial reference plane and for detecting possible defects of the beads as a function of such trend.
