An overcurrent protection assembly for an appliance includes a cabinet configured to house the appliance, the cabinet including a body and a door, the door movable between an open position and a closed position. The overcurrent protection assembly further includes an overcurrent protection circuit, the overcurrent protection circuit including a switch and a current limiter. The switch is alternatable between an engaged position when the door is in the open position and a disengaged position when the door is in the closed position. The current limiter is in electrical communication with the switch when the switch is in the disengaged position and not in electrical communication with the switch when the switch is in the engaged position. Electricity flowing through the overcurrent protection circuit to the appliance flows at a high current level when the switch is in the engaged position and at a low current level when the switch is in the disengaged position.

Overcurrent protection assemblies for appliances

Systems and methods of detecting current leakage in a heating element are provided. An alternating current signal can be applied to the heating element. The heating element can have an associated line relay and an associated neutral relay coupled to a line terminal of the heating element and a neutral terminal of the heating element, respectively. A control system can be configured to control a sequence of operations of the line and neutral relays such that the magnitude of a leakage current flowing through the heating element to ground is increased. Such increased magnitude can facilitate detection of the leakage current. The detected leakage current can be compared with a leakage threshold. The control system can cease the operation of the heating element if the leakage current is greater than the leakage threshold.

Detecting current leakage in a heating element

Printed circuit board assemblies providing fault detection are provided. One example printed circuit board assembly includes a substrate layer. One or more solder pins are located on a rear surface of the substrate layer. The printed circuit board assembly includes a non-conductive layer adjacent to the rear surface of the substrate layer. The printed circuit board assembly includes a conductive layer adjacent to the non-conductive layer. The conductive layer is electrically connected to a ground. The printed circuit board assembly includes a mounting surface. The printed circuit board assembly includes a support layer compressed between the conductive layer and the mounting surface. The support layer applies a mechanical force that presses the conductive layer towards the non-conductive layer.

Printed circuit board assemblies providing fault detection

Dishwasher appliances configured to receive cleaning agent dispensers are provided. A dishwasher appliance includes a tub that defines a wash chamber for receipt of articles for washing, the tub comprising a plurality of sidewalls. The dishwasher appliance further includes a rack assembly arranged in the wash chamber, and a sump for collecting fluid from the wash chamber. The dishwasher appliance further includes a door movable between a closed position and an open position, the door including an inner wall further defining the wash chamber when the door is in the closed position. The dishwasher appliance further includes a dispenser mounting assembly disposed within the wash chamber, the dispenser mounting assembly configured to receive the cleaning agent dispenser.
