A device is configured to determine a switching pattern comprising a first time range for activating a first plurality of light emitting diodes (LEDs) of a LED module and a second time range for activating a second plurality of LEDs of the LED module. The first plurality of LEDs and the second plurality of LEDs are different. The device is further configured to determine, for each LED of the first plurality of LEDs, a respective timeslot of a plurality of timeslots of the first time range. The device is further configured to output an instruction to a switching device to cause the switching device to couple each LED of the first plurality of LEDs to a supply during the respective timeslot determined for the LED.

Controlling light emitting diodes for switching patterns

An expander circuit may be configured to control a plurality of driver circuits for driving light emitting diodes (LEDs). The expander circuit may comprise a bus interface circuit configured to receive control signals from a processor over a communication bus, and a plurality of modulation signal generators configured to generate modulation signals based on the control signals. The expander circuit may be configured to provide the modulation signals to the plurality of driver circuits for driving the LEDs.

This disclosure includes systems, methods, and techniques for controlling delivery of power to one or more strings of light-emitting diodes (LEDs). For example, a circuit includes a power converter configured to generate an electrical current, a switching device, and a sensor. The sensor is configured to compare a magnitude of the electrical current to a threshold, and in response to the magnitude exceeding the threshold, cause the switching device to turn on in order to sink a portion of the electrical current to prevent the magnitude of the electrical current from exceeding the threshold. When the switching device is turned on, the electrical current is divided into an undesired electrical current that flows across the switching device and a desired electrical current that flows to the string of LEDs.

Circuit for providing power to two or more strings of LEDs

This disclosure describes techniques to control LED lighting systems using a circuit that includes communication, control and LED driver circuitry specific to a limited number of particular lighting functions. The circuit may communicate via a standard communication bus protocol and include feedback, protection and sensing circuitry to monitor the lighting functions and LED performance. The circuit may be small enough to be included as part of a lighting assembly, such as a vehicle headlight assembly. The included feedback and monitoring circuitry that may be physically close the driven LEDs may simplify the wiring when compared to other techniques. A configuration process for the circuit may further simplify the wiring connections, as well as reduce the development and manufacturing costs for lighting systems that may use the circuit. Limiting the lighting functions of each circuit may improve thermal management by distributing the thermal load.

Modular front light LED driver messaging system

A method may include, based on a plurality of duty cycles each associated with a respective one of a plurality of LEDs, determining a first set of drive schemes such that each drive scheme is associated with a respective one of the plurality of LEDs and is dependent on the duty cycle associated with the respective one of the plurality of LEDs. The method further includes driving each of the plurality of LEDs in accordance with the associated drive scheme of the first set in at least one drive cycle. Each of the plurality of drive schemes includes one or more on-times each having a phase and a duration. The method may include driving each of the plurality of LEDs in an on-state or an off-state dependent on the respective drive scheme and determining the drive scheme dependent on the drive scheme of another one of the plurality of LEDs.

Method for driving a plurality of light emitting diodes and drive circuit

In an example, a circuit includes one or more switches, wherein the circuit is configured to receive a battery voltage from a battery, deliver an input voltage to a controller, deliver an output voltage, and receive signals from the controller. The signals may activate the one or more switches and deactivate the one or more switches and activating the one or more switches and deactivating the one or more switches may control the input voltage to the controller.
