A first node can be selected as a target node, and a second node can be selected as a control to determine a performance limit associated with providing a service. A request for the service can be determined to be routed to the first node. A first indication of a first performance measurement associated with processing a first load by the first node can be received. A second indication of a second performance measurement associated with processing a second load by the second node can be received. A performance error of the first node can be determined based on the first performance measurement and the second performance measurement. The performance limit can be determined based on the performance error, and an action can be triggered based on the performance limit.

Real-time load limit measurement for a plurality of nodes

Technologies are disclosed for local and distributed function based dynamic traffic management for network services. A service host executes a network service and provides a service framework that includes one or more handlers. When a request is received for the service, one of the handlers assigns a classification to the request. The handler then provides the classification to a dynamic function based traffic controller. The controller determines whether the network service is to process the request based on the classification of the request, metrics associated with the network service, and a local traffic management policy. If the controller determines that the network service is not to process the request, the request is rejected. Otherwise, the request is passed to the network service for processing. Metrics can also be provided from the service host to a distributed performance monitoring system for use in managing network traffic at a fleet level.

Function based dynamic traffic management for network services

Systems and methods are disclosed herein for generating a signature of an anomalous network event capable of adversely affecting the performance of a computing resource service provider. A signature computing workflow service receives network traffic information received at the computing resources service provider, and parses the network traffic information into a set of entries. The set of entries may include data for a set of parameters useable for communicating over a network. Entropy values may be calculated for the data and anomalies for the set of parameters may be detected based on changes in entropy for the set of parameters. A signature of an anomalous network traffic event may be generated based on characteristic entropy changes in the parameters associated with the anomalies. The signature may be useable to detect the presence of the network event.
