A system includes a first computer, the first computer including a user interface to allow a user to access an online service provided by an online service provider and to provide user information, a storage in which to store the user information, a processor executing instructions that cause the processor to receive the user information, access the storage to determine if the user information exists in the storage, determine if the user information in the storage matches the user information provided through the user interface, and if the user information does not match, notifying the user through the interface.

A method of automatically evolving survey questions includes receiving, at a processor, a first set of textual responses to at least one open-ended question in a survey, reformatting the first set of textual responses as a set of possible textual responses in the form of closed-ended questions with numerical ratings as options, storing the set of possible textual responses in a memory in communication with the processor, selecting and transmitting a subset of the set of possible textual response to survey recipients, receiving, at the processor, participant numerical ratings for each textual response, using the processor to generate a confidence measure and score for each possible textual response based upon the participant ratings, generating a ranked list, with the processor, including the confidence measures, storing the ranked list, and converting at least one of the original open-ended question in the survey to a closed-ended ended question, using a subset of the textual responses.

Self-learning surveys for open-ended analysis

Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) and methods of using them diagnostically and therapeutically for treatment of cancer, stem cell therapy, or regenerative medicine are disclosed. In particular, the invention relates to lncRNAs that that play roles in regulation of genes involved in cell proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis. Such lncRNAs can be used as biomarkers to monitor cell proliferation and differentiation during cancer progression or tissue regeneration. One of the identified lncRNAs, referred to as PANDA (a P21-Associated NcRNA, DNA damage Activated), inhibits the expression of apoptotic genes normally activated by the transcription factor NF-YA. Inhibitors of PANDA sensitize cancerous cells to chemotherapy and can be used in combination with chemotherapeutic agents for treatment of cancer.

Diagnostic, prognostic and therapeutic uses of long non-coding RNAs for cancer and regenerative medicine

The present disclosure provides a system, apparatus and method to transport data across a network node, as part of a network infrastructure of an optical transmission system. According to the various embodiments of the disclosure, a base architecture is provided which includes interconnectivity providing high throughput, while mitigating factors which may lead to signal loss or signal degradation. The base architecture is easily expandable to accommodate additional traffic.

Techniques for improving access time in data storage systems are disclosed. These techniques can be used to prevent undesirable access delays that are often experienced in conventional storage systems. 'Slow-access' can be defined as an access operation that does not successfully complete within a predetermined amount of time. The 'slow-access' time can, for example, be defined based on a system requirement, specification, or a particular need of a specific application. As such, when detected &#x201c;slow-access&#x201d; indicates a potential performance problem that can manifest in undesirable effects. A data storage system is evaluated for potential performance problems by scanning it for &#x201c;slow-access.&#x201d; In addition, preventative measures are taken to prevent occurrence of a &#x201c;slow-access&#x201d; once it has been identified. These measures can prevent the undesirable effects experienced in conventional storage systems. This also means that specific system or application requirements can be certified and met.

Method and apparatus for evaluating and improving disk access time in a raid system

Improved techniques for accessing data storage systems are disclosed. These techniques detect, correct and prevent undesirable access delays experienced in storage systems. 'Slow-access' refers to an access operation that does not successfully complete within a predetermined amount of time. When slow-access is detected, an attempt is made to provide data by other means rather than waiting for the access operation to eventually complete. By way of example, parity information is used to generate data rather than waiting beyond a predetermined amount of time for a 'slow-read' operation to complete. In addition, preventative measures can be taken to avoid reoccurrence of a &#x201c;slow-access&#x201d; operating once it has been identified. These preventative measures, for example, include rewriting the same data to the same data section that caused the slow-access problem or remapping the section to another section in order to avoid the same section of data to cause another slow access problem.

Accessing data storage systems without waiting for read errors

Methods and systems for controlling the screen display appearance for a digital processing system. In one exemplary embodiment, a data value, typically stored in a non-volatile memory, is retrieved; this data value represents an appearance of an enclosure of a digital processing system. An appearance of a display of this digital processing system is then set based upon the appearance of the enclosure. In one example, the appearance is the color of the enclosure which determines various colors and backgrounds of objects in a graphical user interface of the digital processing system. Other methods, apparatuses and computer readable media for causing methods to be performed are also described.
