A system and method for addressing failures in electronic display assemblies is provided. Each of a plurality of electronic display assembles include an electronic display, one or more components for operating the electronic display assembly, and a control device. A network operations center is located remote from, but in electronic communication with, each of the electronic display assembles. If the control devices determine that any of the components are not operating properly, the control device is configured to remove the power supplied to the components, wait a predetermined amount of time, and resume applying power.

System and method for detection of display errors

An electronic display where various electrical components may be removed from a housing of the display and serviced or replaced without having to demount the display. The electronic display may include an electronic image-producing assembly in electrical communication with a backplane. Various electrical components (e.g., electronic assemblies) may be removably connected to the backplane using self-guiding electrical connectors. An access opening through a wall of the housing may be provided to facilitate removal of an electrical assembly through the housing while the display remains mounted to a vertical surface.

Electronic display with mount-accessible components

Exemplary embodiments herein provide a wireless transmitter/receiver which receives a unique identifier from a smart device and finds associated order history stored on an electronic storage device. A display controlling assembly may generate individualized image data based on the associated order history and transmits the individualized image data to the electronic menu board for display. In some embodiments, menu information is sent directly to the smart device.

A system and method for redundant multi-panel display is provided. A first system control board is electrically connected to the first electronic display and a first video player. A second system control board is electrically connected to the second electronic display, the first video player, and a second video player. The second system control board is configured to begin utilizing the first video player upon failure of the second video player. Order information is received from a point of sale data output and transmitted to at least one of the first system control board and the second system control board. The first and second video players are configured to cause background images to blended with the order information and displayed on the respective electronic display.

System and method for a redundant multi-panel electronic display

A system for detecting errors in a source driver for an electronic display includes an upstream logic device, a comparator, and a source driver. The source driver has a number of driven channels which transmit active signals for generating an image on the electronic display and one or more dummy channels which transmit dummy signals to the comparator. The comparator receives and compares signals from at least some of the driven channels with the dummy channels and generates an alert for transmission to the upstream logic device if a mismatch is detected.

System and method for detecting errors in a source driver

An electronic display system having an electronic display with illumination control, wherein illumination control may be based on one or both of the system operating temperature and a light ratio defined as the ratio of ambient light to light emitted by an illumination means of the electronic display. When adjusting the emitted light level of the illumination means, some exemplary system embodiments may consider temperature only, some embodiments may consider light ratio only, and some embodiments may consider both temperature and light ratio. Sensors may be provided to measure system operating temperature, as well as ambient light level and illumination means light output. Illumination control is provided by using a controller to adjust the output of a power source that supplies electrical energy to the illumination means if the temperature and/or light ratio falls outside of an acceptable range.

A system and method for systemically addressing failures in electronic displays without user interaction comprises an electronic display connected to a timing and control board, connected to a system control board having a network interface component with a power button. A video player is connected to the system control board and has a video player power button. The system control board may simulate pushing the power button, the video power button, and/or disrupting the power supply to the video player if the video player is not communicating.

System and method for systemic detection of display errors

An electrical assembly for detecting failures in an LCD source driver includes a plurality of active channels on the source driver which communicate electronically with an LCD. A split active channel on the source driver is provided with an original signal and splits the original signal into an active split channel and a dummy split channel. The active split channel is sent to the LCD. A microprocessor receives the dummy split channel and compares the received dummy split channel signal to the original signal.

LCD source driver feedback system and method

A system and method for preventing image retention in an electronic display. A time threshold (TT) and a pixel threshold (PT) may be defined. The system preferably performs a checksum calculation of all pixel data within an active image area of the electronic display for an interval of time until reaching TT. The system may then compare the checksum calculation for each interval of time to determine if the change in pixel data is less than PT. Preferably, the system will perform an image retention prevention method for the active image area if the change in pixel data is less than PT. Generally, this is performed by transmitting alternate pixel data to the electronic display.

Cyclic redundancy check for electronic displays

An electronic display is controlled by a timing and control board and normally displays background image data. The timing and control board is electrically connected to a system control board that is configured to receive order confirmation data from a point of sale data output. A video player is electrically connected to the system control board and is configured to blend the order confirmation data with the background image data. The blended image is transmitted to timing and control board and displayed on the electronic display after an order is placed.

System and method for blending order confirmation over menu board background

An electrical assembly and method for detecting failures in an LCD source driver is disclosed herein. A plurality of active channels are placed on the source driver which communicate electronically with an LCD. At least one dummy channel may be placed on the source driver which is driven with an original signal. A microprocessor may then receive the dummy channel and compare the received dummy channel signal to the original signal. An error message may be transmitted when the received dummy channel signal does not match the original signal. Alternatively, the source driver may be provided with a split active channel which is provided with an original signal that is split into an active split channel and a dummy split channel. While the active split channel is sent to the LCD, the dummy split channel is sent to the microprocessor for comparison with the original signal.

In an exemplary embodiment, each horizontal and vertical conductor of a TFT array may be in electrical contact with a first and second control system. Initially, the entire display is driven by the first control system. When/if a failure occurs in the first control system, it is powered down and the second control system maintains operation of the entire display. Each control system may contain a set of source/gate drivers, display interface board, and power supply. A reversionary button may allow the user to manually switch between control systems. Alternatively, failure may be detected by the display interface boards or a graphics processor.

Redundant control system for LCD

A source well divider for use with a nuclear level gauge on a process vessel, permits the insertion of multiple radiation sourcesin the source well. The divider includes a plurality of lengths of flexible interlocked metallic tubing, each length extending into the source wellfrom a nozzle in the vessel, forming a plurality of independent sub-wells each permitting the installation of an independently cabled radiation sourceinto the source well.

Another embodiment relates to a system for controlling the amount of backlight based on both the temperature of the backlight and the amount of ambient light.
