Cleaning composition

Compositions, articles and methods are provided for supplying fabric care benefits to clothing or fabrics in an automated washing machine and by manual washing. The fabric care compositions preferably have less than about 5% detergent surfactants, more preferably less than 3%, even more preferably less than 1% and are most preferably free of detergent surfactants. Similarly, the fabric care compositions preferably have less than about 5% fabric softener actives, more preferably less than 3%, even more preferably less than 1% and are most preferably free of detergent surfactants. The laundry articles can take a variety of forms in a variety of physical states all of which will rapidly dispense a unitized amount of one or more selected fabric care agents to a wash and/or rinse bath solution during the laundering process under a variety of conditions. The invention also pertains to laundry kits that contain a variety of such articles and instructions concerning their use. Likewise, methods for preparing a customized laundry solution to obtain a specific fabric care benefit selected based on the user's personal preferences and/or the fabric care needs of the fabrics being laundered are also provided. Further, the present invention also concerns methods for assisting a consumer in identifying the unitized articles to be used in preparing a laundry solution that will impart desired fabric care benefits as well as merchandising displays for dispensing the articles, assembling customized laundry kits and instructing the consumer on the selection and use of laundry articles.

Laundry system having unitized dosing

The present invention relates to foam components comprising polymeric material and an active ingredient, such as detergent ingredients, which are to be delivered to aqueous environment. Highly preferred active ingredients include enzymes. The foam component is stable upon contact with air but dissolves, disintegrates or disperses in water. The invention also relates to compositions containing the foam components and methods for making the foam components.

Water unstable foam compositions

The present invention relates to a method for treating material with a treatment composition in a water-soluble pouch, whereby firstly a part of the composition is applied to the material by partially opening the pouch to allow dispensing of part of the treatment composition, and subsequently the material and the remaining of the pouched composition are washed in water. Preferred is a method whereby the pouch has at least two compartments and one compartment, comprising a liquid composition, is opened and the liquid composition is rubbed onto the material or preferably fabric, where after the remaining of the pouch (including the still closed compartment and composition therein) are added to the wash water, for example a washing machine.

Method for treating stained materials

A process for manufacturing effervescence component comprises grinding a coarse acid source to obtain an acid source whereof at least 75% has a particle size from 0.1 to 150 microns, mixing the ground acid source and the carbon dioxide source and optionally the binder and/or other actives to form a mixture, and submitting the mixture to a granulation step, preferably comprising a compaction step and/or an agglomeration step.

Process for manufacturing effervescence components

The solid component comprises a finely divided component, preferably a sensitiser, and a specific polymeric component, whereby the solid component has a tressed Heubach Index of less than 1000. The solid component is preferably present in the detergent composition, preferably in a granular composition, a tablet or bar.
