An antenna assembly (118) for a wireless communication device (100) has a non-telescoping antenna (200), a bushing (204) and a post (202). The bushing (204) has an attachment mechanism (238) to secure the bushing (204) to the device (100). The post (202) has two ends. One end of the post (202) is joined to the non-telescoping antenna (200). The other end of the post adapted to electrically connect the non-telescoping antenna (200) to transceiver circuitry (304) of the device (100). The post (202) is journaled in the bushing (204) to permit to permit radial movement of the non-telescoping antenna (200) without unsecuring the bushing (204) from the device (100).

An adjustable carrying assembly for a wireless communication device, such as a radiotelephone. The carrying assembly is comprised of a device support member having a first spring coupled thereto for receiving the communication device and a clip mechanism coupled thereto for mounting the carrier assembly on a user's belt or other article of clothing. The clip mechanism comprises a clip support member, a pin, a clip, a second spring and a cap. One end of clip support member includes an opening with a plurality of grooves arranged in a circular array. The device support member is rotatably attached to the clip support member of the clip mechanism such that when the user rotates the device support member with respect to the clip mechanism, first spring moves from one of the plurality of grooves to another of the plurality of grooves and locks into position.

The mounting receptacle (102) for a telephone handset (112) includes a cup portion (203) for receiving a portion of the telephone handset (112) and a card reader portion (205) containing a card reader (301) and an opening (201) for allowing a user to insert an information card (135) into the card reader (301). The cup portion (203) and the card reader portion (205) are attached together via a quick disconnect connector (314, 322) that is integrally formed of the cup portion (203) and the card reader portion (205). The quick disconnect connector allows the opening (201) to be selectively positioned on one of the sides of the mounting receptacle (102) and readily moveable to a different one of the sides of the mounting receptacle (102) by a user.

An electronic device employs a method and apparatus for shielding an electrical circuit (101) that is disposed on a substrate (120). A base member (103) that includes a top portion (104) and a plurality of side portions (105) is electrically coupled to a receptacle area (121) of the substrate (120) such that the plurality of side portions (105) substantially encircle the electrical circuit (101). The top portion (104) of the base member (103) includes a plurality of tab members (108) interposed with a plurality of receptacle openings (109). A substantially planar cover (102) that includes a plurality of protrusions (111) is positioned adjacent to the top portion (104) of the base member (103) such that each protrusion (111) is positioned within a corresponding receptacle opening (109). The cover (102) is then urged until each protrusion (111) interlocks with a corresponding tab member (108) to substantially enclose and, thus, shield the electrical circuit (101).
