The present invention relates to an improved insulated conductor with a low dielectric constant and reduced materials costs. The conductor () extends along a longitudinal axis and an insulation (&#x3e;) surrounds the conductor (). At least on channel (&#x3e;) in the insulation (&#x3e;) extends generally along the longitudinal axis to form an insulated conductor. Apparatuses and methods of manufacturing the improved insulated conductors are also disclosed.

The present invention relates to cables made of twisted conductor pairs. More specifically, the present invention relates to twisted pair communication cables for high-speed data communications applications. A twisted pair including at least two conductors extends along a generally longitudinal axis, with an insulation surrounding each of the conductors. The conductors are twisted generally longitudinally along the axis. A cable includes at least two twisted pairs and a filler. At least two of the cables are positioned along generally parallel axes for at least a predefined distance. The cables are configured to efficiently and accurately propagate high-speed data signals by, among other functions, limiting at least a subset of the following: impedance deviations, signal attenuation, and alien crosstalk along the predefined distance.

The present invention relates to an improved isolated core or insulated conductor with a low dielectric constant and reduced materials costs. Apparatuses and methods of manufacturing the improved isolated core or insulated conductor are also disclosed.

A multi-pair cable having a jacket, including a spacer integrally formed in the jacket. The spacer extends helically about the central axis of the cable. The spacer includes an inner projection that projects radially inward and an outer projection that projects radially outward from the main wall of the jacket. The jacket with the spacer reduces the occurrence of alien crosstalk between adjacent cables.

A telecommunication wire having an electrical conductor is surrounded by an insulator. The insulator includes a main body made of a first polymeric insulator material. The main body defines a plurality of channels that run generally along a length of the electrical conductor. Each channel includes a first region and a second region. The first regions are filled with a second polymeric insulator material having a dielectric constant that is lower than the first polymeric insulator material. The second regions are filled with a gas such as air.

A cable is disclosed including at least one conductor, a polymeric insulator surrounding the conductor, the insulator defining a plurality of insulator channels having lengths that run along the length of the conductor. The cable also includes a jacket surrounding the insulator, the jacket also defining a plurality of channels having lengths that run along the length of the jacket.
