One example is a shock gauge system for measuring an external blast to a hull. The shock gauge system includes at least one accelerometer to produce acceleration data in response to the external blast, a mass with an accelerometer affixed to it, a crush block, a linear displacement potentiometer (LDP), a camera, and a processor logic. The LDP device generates displacement data of a mass being pushed into the crush block when reacting to the external blast. The camera captures images of movement of the mass. The processor logic verifies if the acceleration data is valid by correlating the acceleration data to the displacement data, the images, and/or an amount of displacement into the crush block by the mass. When the acceleration data is valid, the acceleration data may be used to create a more blast resistant hull.

Shock gauge system

A restraint system for a motor vehicle includes a plurality of sensors for sensing vehicle conditions of restraint deployment thresholds. The restraint system also includes an electronic controller electrically connected to the sensors for determining whether one of the sensors experiences sufficient deceleration. The restraint system further includes at least one inflatable restraint operatively connected to the electronic controller for deployment thereby in a first stage if the deceleration warrants a first stage deployment and in a second stage if the deceleration warrants a second stage deployment when the sensors sense vehicle conditions achieving the restraint deployment thresholds to restrain an occupant in a seat of the motor vehicle.

Restraint system

An inflatable restraint system for attachment to an occupant seat of an automotive vehicle has a canister with an inflatable restraint deployable therefrom, a chute member slidably engaged with the canister for directing deployment of the inflatable restraint and movable between a stowed position when the inflatable restraint is uninflated and the deployed position when the inflatable restraint is inflated. Tethers or other retention devices are attached between the canister and the chute member to retain the chute member in a predetermined position with respect to the canister so as to direct deployment of the inflatable restraint in a predetermined direction from the occupant seat.

Vehicle inflatable restraint system

An inflatable restraint system for an automotive vehicle has an inflatable restraint packaged within a module housing in an uninflated state and is operatively connected to an inflator for receiving inflator gas therefrom for movement to an inflated position within the vehicle. The inflatable restraint has a gas reactant substance on an interior surface which is reactive with the inflator gas to prolong inflation of the inflatable restraint in the inflated position at a predetermined pressure.

A seamless side inflatable restraint deployment system for an occupant seated in a seat includes a side inflatable restraint module attached to a frame of the seat and having an inflatable restraint, a pad disposed adjacent the side inflatable restraint module having a deployment opening therein, and a tear initiator envelope enclosing the side inflatable restraint module and extending through the deployment opening to concentrate deployment forces of the inflatable restraint to form a desired exit location in a seat trim of the seat for the inflatable restraint to deploy therethrough.

Seamless side inflatable restraint deployment system

A vehicle seat back frame assembly includes a substantially U-shaped frame assembly incorporating a side impact airbag module as a structural, load-bearing component thereof. The substantially U-shaped frame assembly includes a curved top portion having opposing ends and a spacer attached to one of the opposing ends. The side impact airbag module has first and second ends, with the first end being attached to the other of the opposing ends. First and second support members are attached to the spacer and the second end of the airbag module, respectively, for securing the seat back frame assembly in the vehicle.
