Provided are a computer program product, system, and method for providing different access to documents in an online document sharing community depending on whether the document is public or private. A request is received for a page and a determination is made of a document to include in the page and whether document information for the determined document indicates the document as public or private. An access element is included in the page to provide access to the content of the determined document in response to determining that the determined document is public. Access to a public description of the document not including all the content of the document is included in the page in response to determining that the determined document is private and that the requesting participant is not a member of the group of participants allowed to access the document.

Provided are a computer program product, system, and method for providing access to documents of friends in an online document sharing community based on whether the friends' documents are public or private. A request is received from a requesting participant computer for a page. A determination is made, from participant information for the requesting participant, friends of the requesting participant and participant information in the database for the determined friends. A further determination is made of documents owned by the friends. A further determination is made as to whether document information for the determined documents owned by the friends indicates the documents as public or private. The page includes information on the friends and access elements to provide access to the content of the determined documents of the friends that are indicated as public.

Provided are a computer program product, system, and method for providing access to documents requiring a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) in an online document sharing community. A document request is received from a requesting participant at a requesting participant computer comprising one of the participant computers in the network environment. In response to receiving the document request, an access page is returned to the requesting participant computer including a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) requesting that the requesting participant accept terms of the NDA in order to access the content of the document in the storage system. The content of the document is returned to the requesting participant computer in response to receiving indication from the requesting participant computer accepting the terms of the NDA.

Providing access to documents requiring a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) in an online document sharing community

Provided are computer program product, system, and method for providing access to documents in an online document sharing community in a network environment including a plurality of participant computers operated by participants in the online document sharing community and a storage system. Document content is processed to add search terms for the document and a document identifier to a search index accessible through a search engine over the network to participants not under an obligation of confidentiality to the owner with respect to the document. Access is provided to the content of the document to the participants in the online document sharing community. A determination is made of a publication time the document was included in the search index and made accessible to the participant computers operated by participants not under the obligation of confidentiality to the owner of the document content.

A method and system for speculatively issuing instructions which are dependent upon results from execution of other instructions. Instructions are speculatively issued, dependent upon a result from execution of a primary instruction, wherein the speculatively issued instructions are issued after execution of the primary instruction. N clock cycles are tracked after execution of the primary instruction, wherein the result from execution of said primary instruction is expected within n clock cycles. Execution of any speculatively issued instructions which are dependent upon the primary instruction is cancelled if the result is not returned from execution of the primary instruction within n clock cycles, such that for primary instructions for which the result is returned within the expected n clock cycles any speculatively issued instructions dependent upon said result are executed with increased efficiency.

Method and system for speculatively issuing instructions

A superscalar processor and method are disclosed for efficiently executing a store instruction. The store instruction is stored in an issue queue within the processor. A first part of the store instruction is issued from the issue queue to a first one of different execution units in response to a first operand becoming available. A second part of the store instruction is issued from the issue queue to a second one of the different execution units in response to a second operand becoming available. The store instruction is completed in response to executing the first part of the store instruction by the first one of the execution units and the second part of the store instruction by the second one of the execution units.

Superscalar processor and method for incrementally issuing store instructions

A method and implementing system are provided in which a service processor is implemented in addition to system processors. The service processor is enabled to access system on-chip registers to acquire system data through the use of the system JTAG bus connections. In one embodiment, logic is provided to determine concurrent calls for use of the same registers by both the system processor(s) and also by the service processor through the JTAG bus. In case of concurrent requests, the JTAG data are held so as not to interfere with system operations until the system processor's use of the registers has been completed.

An information handling system which efficiently processes auxiliary functions such as graphics processing includes one or more processors, a high speed processor bus connecting the one or more processors, a memory controller for controlling memory and for controlling the auxiliary function processing, a memory system, and an I/O bus having one or more I/O controllers with I/O devices connected thereto. The system further includes means in a processor for building a queue of command blocks related to the auxiliary function processor, writing one or more command blocks to memory, which may include a processor cache, writing a start address for each command block to an address FIFO associated with the auxiliary function processor, reading a command block queue start address by the auxiliary processor, recognizing the command block read, issuing a coherent read for queued command blocks with intervention enabled, flushing a copy of the queued command block from processor cache to memory subsystem if a copy of the queued command block is in processor cache, intercepting the flushed copy of the queued command block from cache to memory and canceling the read to memory, storing the queued block in a command buffer associated with the auxiliary function processor, processing the commands in the queue by the auxiliary function processor, and writing a complete status to a predetermined location which is periodically polled by a processor on completion of the auxiliary function processing. For each data request to or from storage from the auxiliary function processor, a determination is made as to whether the request is for a coherent or non-coherent read or write of the data. If the request is for a non-coherent read or write, the snoop cycle on the processor bus is inhibited and bypassed since there is no need to perform a snoop to maintain coherency for non-coherent data. That data request is then handled and processed.

A security system for protecting a protected device including control circuitry, a non-volatile memory, a data transceiver, and input keys. A remote activation unit, including a non-volatile memory, data transceiver, and input key, is used to access the protected unit by communicating a code stored in the memory of the activation unit to the protected unit via data transceivers. If the activation unit is lost or the user desires to change the password, the user may enter a new password using the input keys of the protected unit, which is then stored in the non-volatile memory of the protected unit. The user may then initiate a password programming operation, which would involve the communication of the new password entered by the user to the remote activation unit via the data transceivers. Once the remote activation unit receives the new password, it would then store the new password in the non-volatile memory of the activation unit.

A computer system including a memory controller programmed with associated burst order translation logic and coupled to one or more microprocessors and including a memory circuit which supports either sequential or interleaved transmission of burst data communication between an I/O devices and one or more of the microprocessors. Data transmitted to or from an I/O device, processor or memory is temporarily stored in a buffer within the memory controller. The buffers contain multiple addresses with each address capable of containing a quadword of data. The quadwords of data are transferred to the addresses corresponding to which quadword is the requested quadword from the processor. The quadwords are transmitted, requested quadword first then the next quadword, continuing until all quadwords are transmitted. The corresponding addresses are determined through incrementing or decrementing a pointer to the corresponding addresses, dependent upon the burst ordering translation required.

Computer system memory controller and method of burst data ordering

To present a consistent image of storage facilities to components in Bi-modal Endian PowerPC system enviromnents, provision is made for transferring data between system components in the appropriate Endian format. Endian conversion function can be incorporated into the memory controller subsystem by adding byte-lane swapping logic on the inbound and outbound I/O data paths. With this structure, inbound data from the processor and memory bus will be converted to true Little Endian order before being sent to I/O devices. Likewise, true Little Endian data from I/O devices targeted for the processor or memory is modified to reflect the PowerPC Little Endian byte ordering convention.

Method and apparatus for data ordering of I/O transfers in Bi-modal

PowerPC external control instructions are utilized to pass a translated address to a transfer engine located in the system memory controller, together with previously transferred parameters into control registers within the memory controller. An accelerated data movement is accomplished between system memory and an input/output device with a minimum of processor overhead and bus bandwidth utilization. This method is useful for transferring large amounts of data between memory and such devices as graphics adapters or multimedia devices.
