Shipping base

A re-usable, returnable, stackable, modular shipping base that incorporates replaceable components to make the base relatively quick and cost effective to repair. The shipping base is formed from a number of stamped or cut sheet materials (e.g., sheet metal) that are then folded and attached to one another using a tab system. When a component is damaged, the damaged component may be removed from the base and replaced with another mass produced, stamped sheet material component. Components are attached to one another via adhesive, rivets, stitch welding, spot welding, or any other applicable process.

Modular shipping base

A stackable polymeric foam adjustment or grade ring is provided for the construction of the adjustment courses or manhole chimney portion of a sewer system. The adjustment ring is circular and may include concentric annular grooves on at least one surface and male portions corresponding in size and shape to the concentric annular grooves on a second surface. The adjustment rings are stacked one on another with the respective male portions being coupled within a corresponding annular groove to provide a manhole construction that is resistant to inflow, chemicals and freeze-thaw cycle damage.

A method for preparing a mold form includes forming a mold blank having a surface corresponding to the surface of the article desired and enclosing the mold blank in an open ended enclosure. A thin layer of polymer resin, preferably polyurea is sprayed on the surface of the mold blank and allowed to cure. Heat transfer tubing is inserted over the resin layer. A mixture of metallic pellets and epoxy are inserted over the heat transfer tubing and then another layer of resin is sprayed over the mixture. After the resin has cured, the mold blank is removed to expose the mold form having an outer surface of polyurea.

A method and mobile unit facility is provided for testing the packaging of material during the transport of the material from one location to another location. The method includes instrumenting a unit of packaged material for measuring deflection and acceleration of the packaged material during the transport, loading the unit of packaged material into a bed of the mobile unit facility and filling the remainder of the bed with weighted material which is weighted and sized to simulate other units of the actual packaged material, and then driving the mobile unit facility from the one known location to the other location while recording deflection and acceleration data of the unit of packaged material.
