Embodiments described herein describe an immobilization device configured to simulate the communication of safety signals of a charging cable to a charging port of an electric vehicle; such that a processor of the electric vehicle may determine that the charging state of electric vehicle is ready to charge, thus immobilizing the vehicle. In embodiments, the immobilization device may be configured to restrict the movement of the electric vehicle without supplying power to the electric vehicle, and be configured to allow the components of the electric vehicle to be utilized if the immobilization device is coupled to the charging port of the electric vehicle.

Vehicle immobilizer

A wireless communications device includes a host processing unit, a modem processing unit, and a memory transport interface. The wireless communications device typically runs a variety of software tasks, some of which require considerably more memory than others. By processing the memory intensive tasks with the host processing unit and assigning tasks requiring high computing power but relatively smaller memory to the modem processor unit, a smaller on-chip memory can be used for the modem processor unit tasks. In addition, by using a messaging transport interface to transfer data between tasks running on different processing units, smaller local memories can be used in place of a shared memory. For example, by allocating and storing L1 tasks at the modem processing unit and allocating/storing L2 and L3 tasks at the host processing unit, duplicate memory components may be reduced or removed, thereby lowering system costs and improving system efficiency.

Wireless modem architecture for reducing memory components

The present invention provides a method and apparatus for detecting and decoding data. The method comprises: receiving a set of data signals from an external data source; detecting a size of said received set of data signals; decoding said received set of data signals; extracting a destination address from said set of data signals; comparing said destination address extracted from said data signals to a known data value; determining whether said received data signals should be received by a host circuitry based upon said comparison of said destination address extracted from said data signals to a known data value; generating at least one status signal alerting said host circuitry of said determination that said received data signals should be received by said host circuitry; and waking up said host circuitry upon a determination that said received set of data is addressed to said host circuitry. The apparatus comprises: a data formatter; a clock divider; a counter; a host circuitry interface capable of transmitting and receiving data from a host circuitry; a memory circuitry; a plurality of comparators; a mask circuitry; a digital logic circuitry; a plurality of status registers; and a plurality of clocked registers.

Method and apparatus for pattern matching on single and multiple pattern structures

A computing device has a plurality of subsystems located in subsections that are moveable with respect to each other. Communication between the subsections is accomplished with wireless transceivers transmitting over the air gap interface separating the subsections. Data from multiple communicating subsystems in the subsections is multiplexed into a single data stream and encoded into the communication protocol of the wireless transceivers. The encoded data stream is transmitted to a compatible transceiver where it is decoded. The decoded data stream is demultiplexed into individual data streams for each of the communicating subsystems. The wireless transceivers include multiple communication protocols and transmission frequencies from radio frequencies to optical frequencies. Optical fibers, transmission lines or waveguides may be used to transmit signals within each subsection depending on the wireless technology and protocol.

A communications system includes a physical layer hardware unit and a processing unit. The physical layer hardware unit is adapted to communicate data over a communications channel in accordance with assigned transmission parameters. The physical layer hardware unit is adapted to receive an incoming signal over the communications channel and sample the incoming signal to generate a digital received signal. The processing unit is adapted to execute a software driver including program instructions adapted to extract control codes from the digital received signal, generate an authentication code, and transfer the control codes and the authentication code to the physical layer hardware unit. The physical layer hardware unit is adapted to signal a security violation in response to the control codes being inconsistent with the authentication code. A method for identifying security violations in a transceiver includes receiving digital data over a communications channel; extracting control codes from the digital received signal; generating an authentication code; transferring the control codes and the authentication code to a physical layer hardware unit of the transceiver; configuring assigned transmission parameters of the physical layer hardware unit based on the control codes; and signaling a security violation in response to the control codes being inconsistent with the authentication code.

A method and apparatus for preventing radio communication system access by an unauthorized modem. The apparatus comprises a signal detector that determines if an authorization signal has been received from the base station within a specified period of time. The authorization signal authorizes the apparatus to communicate with the base station. A transmitter transmits information to the base station, and a controller disables the transmitter of the apparatus providing that the authorization signal has not been received within the specified period of time.

Method and apparatus for preventing radio communication system access by an unauthorized modem

A computer system includes a peripheral device and a processing unit. The processing unit is adapted to execute a driver for interfacing with the peripheral device in a standard mode of operation and an authentication agent in a privileged mode of operation, wherein the authentication agent includes program instructions adapted to authenticate the driver. The peripheral device may comprise a communications device, such as a software modem. A method for identifying security violations in a computer system includes executing a driver in a standard processing mode of a processing unit; transitioning the processing unit into a privileged processing mode; and authenticating the driver in the privileged processing mode. The driver may be adapted for interfacing with a communications peripheral device, such as a software modem.

The processing unit is adapted to execute a software driver for interfacing with the physical layer hardware unit. The software driver includes program instructions for implementing a protocol layer to decrypt the user data and provide the upstream data to the physical layer hardware unit. A method for configuring a transceiver includes receiving unencrypted control codes over a communications channel; receiving encrypted user data over the communications channel; and transmitting an upstream signal over the communications channel based on transmission assignments defined by the control codes.

The physical layer hardware unit is adapted to communicate data over a communications channel in accordance with assigned transmission parameters and receive an incoming signal over the communications channel and sample the incoming signal to generate a digital received signal. The processing unit is adapted to execute a standard mode driver in a standard mode of operation and a privileged mode driver in a privileged mode of operation. The standard mode driver includes program instructions adapted to extract encrypted data from the digital received signal and pass the encrypted data to the privileged mode driver. The privileged mode driver includes program instructions adapted to decrypt the encrypted data to generate decrypted data including control codes and transfer the control codes to the physical layer hardware unit.

Methods and apparatus are provided for trapping metastability events to provide a metastable-free output signal. Values of an input signal compared to at least three different threshold voltages are latched at a predetermined point in time. A first intermediate signal is activate when all of the at least three corresponding latched values are in a first logic state. Method and apparatus are provided for trapping metastability events to provide a metastable-free output signal. At least three successive values of an input signal are latched successively over a predetermined period which is less than half of a fundamental period of the input signal to provide at least three corresponding latched values. First and second intermediate signals are activated when outputs of all of the at least three corresponding latched values are in respective first and second logic states. An output signal is placed in a first predetermined logic state in response to the second intermediate signal and is changed from the first predetermined logic state to a second predetermined logic state in response to the first intermediate signal.
