A multi-wavelength band imaging system including a beam splitter is provided, allowing image capturing means adapted to specific wavelength bands to be used such as from visible to near infrared, intermediate infrared and far infrared. The system may have a field of view of substantially (360) degrees about an optical axis of the system and may fit into a golf ball sized housing. The imaging system includes a first convex mirror and a second concave mirror. Some embodiments for imaging single or close wavelength bands and not requiring a beam splitter are equally provided. Also provided is a self-righting housing for an imaging system, for example as described above, which self-rights under the action of gravity, thereby disposing the imaging system in an appropriate orientation.

A testing apparatus for an optical system comprises a plurality of markers disposed along an axis to be aligned with the optical axis of the optical system, the markers being axially spaced from one another and angularly displaced relative to one another so as to effectively define a helix about the axis. When viewed from one end of the apparatus the markers provide focusing and depth of field information, and some aberrational information about the optical system. Preferably the markers are spaced so as to correspond to the depth of field of the lens aperture stop values of a camera, allowing the aperture settings of the camera to be tested.

Optical testing apparatus for an optical system

The camera support system includes a support column and a boom arm mounted for pivotal movement on the support column by means of a fulcrum unit. The boom arm includes extension members which are detachably interconnectable thereto for selectively changing the length of the boom arm. The extension members when not used in the boom arm being optionally interconnected in the support column to increase the height of the column. The fulcrum unit is interchangeable with an interface unit for directly mounting a camera to the top of the support column for monopod type operation. A base assembly for the support column of the system includes interchangeable feet, rollers or casters whose heights can be individually adjusted.

Camera support systems

A cinematograph camera flicker indicating or control device uses a microprocessor to determine the combinations of camera speed and/or exposure period, or shutter opening, which will be likely to cause unacceptably uneven exposure of successive frames when filming is carried out under AC powered light sources. An alarm may be activated; alternatively, the camera speed and/or the exposure period and/or the lighting frequency may be automatically controlled by the microprocessor to eliminate or reduce such uneven exposure.
