Torque tensioning tube for a conveyor belt mainframe

A conveyor belt guard panel blank comprises a monolithic planar sheet of material of uniform thickness having opposite facing primary surfaces. The sheet of material has a plurality of openings extending therethrough in a manner creating a mesh. The sheet also comprises at least two handle formations that are adapted and configured to be altered in a manner such that the handle formations extend outward from one of the primary surfaces of the sheet of material.

A tensioning device for imparting torsional bias to a shaft. The tensioning device includes an adapter member connectable to the shaft for conjoint rotation therewith. A first hub member is selectively rotationally engageable with the adapter member. A first coupling member is attached to the first hub and a second coupling member is attached to the adapter member. The coupling members provide selective rotational engagement of the first hub member to the adapter member such that the first hub member and the adapter member are relatively rotatable with respect to one another through a preselected degree of relative rotation and such that the first hub member is engageable with the adapter member upon sufficient relative rotation of the first hub member in a first rotational direction with respect to the adapter member such that further rotation of the first hub member provides a corresponding rotation of the adapter member in the first rotational direction. A second hub member is rotatable with respect to the first hub member. A torsion tube of resilient material connected to the first hub member and to the second hub member. A locking mechanism selectively connects the second hub member to a fixed frame to prevent rotation of the second hub member in at least one rotational direction.

A heated conveyor belt cleaner is provided including a support shaft positioned adjacent to the belt to be cleaned and generally transverse to the belt's direction of travel, an electric resistance heating element is disposed within the support shaft, a heat conducting medium is disposed between the support shaft and the heating element to effectively conduct heat from said heating element to the support shaft, a mounting sleeve concentrically surrounding the support shaft for mounting a belt scraper element on the support shaft, at least one belt scraper element connected to the mounting sleeve and, through the mounting sleeve, to the support shaft, such that heat generated within the support shaft is communicated from the support shaft through the mounting sleeve to the scraper element to heat the scraper element for effective removal of adherent materials from the conveyer belt. A temperature sensor communicates the temperature of the scraper element to a thermostat which regulates the electric resistance heating element to provide a uniform preselected temperature at the scraper element.

A tensioning device is provided for selecting and imparting torsional bias to a shaft and simultaneously providing a shock absorbing mechanism, the device including a first hub member selectively connectable to the shaft, a second hub member rotatable wiht respect to the first hub member, a torsion coupling of elastomeric material connected at a first end to the first hub and at the other end to the second hub, and a locking mechanism to lock the second hub to a stationary frame member when the desired torque has been reached.
