A fastener actuation system for driving fasteners into a work surface separated a significant distance from a user, the system comprising a fastener actuation tool coupled to a pole assembly, the assembly including a lockout mechanism disposed within the tool. The tool may have a firing pin assembly configured such that depression of the barrel assembly against the work surface loads a firing pin into a ready-to-fire position. In addition, the tool may have a trigger sleeve slidable within the tool housing and having a ramp surface such that forward motion of the trigger sleeve may cause a trigger sear to move along the ramp surface until a point where the sear disengages and the firing pin fires. The lockout mechanism may include a ball and a receptacle, where the receptacle receives the ball if the tool is in an acceptable orientation and does not receive the ball otherwise.

A new and improved remote trigger actuating mechanism for a power tool comprises an elongated handle or pole which is provided with a handgrip upon a rear end portion, while a mounting bracket, into which a forward end portion of the elongated handle or pole is fixedly engaged, is fixedly mounted upon a rear end portion of the power tool as a result of being bolted directly thereto by suitable bolt fasteners. A spring-biased sleeve member is concentrically disposed about the elongated handle or pole, and a trigger actuator linkage member has a rear end portion thereof fixedly mounted upon the spring-biased sleeve member while a forward end portion of the trigger actuator linkage member is provided with a hooked portion which is adapted to engage the trigger mechanism of the power tool. The spring-biased sleeve member is normally biased to a forward extended position by a coil spring such that the trigger actuator linkage member does not normally engage the trigger mechanism of the power tool, however, when the spring-biased sleeve member is manually moved in the rearward direction against the spring-biasing force of the coil spring, the trigger actuator or linkage member will engage and actuate the trigger mechanism of the power tool whereby the power tool will be energized.

In a fastener-driving tool having a reciprocating driver blade for driving fasteners into a workpiece, a magazine configured for storing and feeding at least one collated strip of fasteners to the driver blade, including a housing defining a feed end, a driving end and a guidance portion disposed between and contacting the two ends, the guidance portion having at least two guidance formations, a first guidance formation configured for engaging the fastener strip at a first location, and the second guidance formation configured for engaging the fastener strip at a second location. In a preferred embodiment, the fastener strip is supported only by the first guidance formation in a first zone of the magazine, and only by the second guidance formation is a second zone of the magazine.
