An energy saver valve includes a first spool () and a second spool () slidably received in a passage () of a housing (). The first spool and the second spool are separate components. The energy saver valve also includes a first outlet port (), a second outlet port (), and a resilient member () located in a resilient member chamber () that biases the second spool towards the first spool. Fluid exits the first outlet port at a first pressure when the energy saver valve is in an initial position, and another passage () provides fluid communication between the fluid in the resilient member chamber and the first outlet port. The fluid exits the second outlet port at a second pressure when the energy saver valve is in an actuated position. The first pressure is less than the second pressure.

Two spool energy saver valve

A valve body has an elongated bore in communication with an inlet port and an outlet port. A valve element is movable within the bore between deactuated and actuated positions. A valve sensor generates a sensor signal indicative of an instantaneous parameter of the valve that changes between the deactuated and actuated positions. A logic unit receives the sensor signal and a pilot command signal that actuates the valve. A predetermined change in the pilot command signal causes the logic unit to determine a cycle parameter responsive to a time period between two predetermined events. At least the beginning or end of the time period corresponds to a predetermined value of the sensor signal. The individual determinations of the cycle parameter are accumulated to obtain an expected cycle parameter. The logic unit generates an indication signal when the cycle parameter exhibits a predetermined variance from the expected cycle parameter.

Control valve system with cycle monitoring, diagnostics and degradation prediction

A control valve system has two valve trains each of which has a series of valves which dynamically move between a deactuated position and an actuated position. An inlet of the valve system is connected to an outlet of the valve system when all of the valves are actuated and the outlet of the valve system is connected to an exhaust when all of the valves are deactuated. Each valve train includes a solenoid valve which when actuated moves the remaining valve members to their actuated position. The various valves of each valve train are interconnected with the valve of the other valve train such that actuation of all of the valves in a substantially simultaneous manner will connect the inlet of the valve system to the outlet of the valve system and deactuation of all of the valves in a substantially simultaneous manner will connect the outlet to the exhaust. The valve system monitors the dynamic movement of the valve members during its operation will move to a locked out condition when any valve is in a deactuated position and when one other valve is in an actuated position. In the locked out condition, the outlet of the valve system is corrected to the exhaust. The valve system will remain in this locker out condition until a resetting operation is performed. During a reset operation, the valve system can not actuate one of the valve trains because one of the valve trains is depressurized during the reset operation.
