A bottom hole assembly for engaging and removing an object within a wellbore comprises a cutting tool at a lower end. Continued engagement of the cutting tool with the object is facilitated by an axial compression device disposed within the bottom hole assembly below the anchor of the bottom hole assembly. The axial compression device comprises a compressed position and an expanded or extended position. As the object is being cut or abraded, the axial compression device moves from the compressed position toward the expanded position so that a continued downward force is transferred to the object by the bottom hole assembly.

Wireline hydraulic driven mill bottom hole assemblies and methods of using same

A device is associated with a downhole tool to control the weight that can be set down on the tool while the tool is operating. A shroud is secured to the string that supports the tool with interior modular biasing components that for run in extend the tool past the shroud. Upon encountering a support for the tool, further set down weight compresses the biasing components for a predetermined stroke length delineated by the shroud landing on a support. If the tool is a mill, its operation takes place under the biasing force as the mill advances into the piece being cut or milled under a predetermined pressure. When the mill reaches full extension from the shroud the process can be repeated until the milling is complete. The shroud also centralizes the mill during milling.

Preload and centralizing device for milling subterranean barrier valves

A tool is run in with a bottom hole assembly that includes a seal and support within the tubing where a fish is to be milled. A ported sub allows pressurized fluid pumped from the surface to enter the bottom hole assembly above the sealed support location and to be directed to set an anchor and to a fluid driven motor such as a progressive cavity motor that is in turn connected milling tool at the rotor of the progressive cavity motor. The fluid exiting the stator goes through a debris removal device and can return to the surface through an annulus around the production tubing. A telescoping joint allows the mill to axially progress with a force applied to the fish generated by a tractor or a stack of Belleville washers.

Slickline or wireline run hydraulic motor driven mill

A fluid bypass tool that can be incorporated into a fishing arrangement between a fluid-operated latching tool and a fluid-operated jarring tool. The latching tool is actuated with fluid from the surface to be latched to and unlatched from a stuck tool in the wellbore. The bypass tool permits fluid flow to the latching tool to be interrupted so that the jarring tool may be operated without risk of inadvertently causing the latching tool to unlatch from the stuck tool.
