A washing machine for treating laundry comprising a basket rotatable about a first rotational axis, having a peripheral side wall extending upwardly from a bottom wall to at least partially define a treating chamber; a clothes mover proximate the bottom wall, having a base with a centrally located hub concentric with a second rotational axis about which the clothes mover reciprocally rotates; and at least one vane having an elongated body extending away from the hub and projecting upwardly from the clothes mover to terminate in a tip.

A laundry mover for a laundry treating appliance may include a protrusion located on an upper side of the laundry mover and forming an open-bottom cavity. The protrusion may have at least one opening fluidly communicating the cavity with a portion of the treating chamber above the protrusion. A diverter may be located on a lower side of the laundry mover.

A laundry mover for a laundry treating appliance may include a protrusion located on an upper side of the laundry mover and forming an open-bottom cavity. The protrusion may have at least one opening fluidly communicating the cavity with a portion of the treating chamber above the protrusion. A diverter may be located on a lower side of the laundry mover such that rotation of the laundry mover brings the diverter into contact with liquid in a portion of the treating chamber underneath the laundry mover, and the diverter directs the liquid through the cavity to expel the liquid through the at least one opening.

A laundry treating appliance may include a treating chamber receiving laundry for treatment and a laundry mover mounted within the treating chamber for rotation about a rotation axis. The laundry mover may have a base made of a first material and a plurality of protrusions made of a different second material. At least portions of the upper surfaces of the base and the protrusions collectively form an upper surface of the laundry mover such that the laundry mover upper surface is at least partially formed of the differing first and second materials. The first material may be metal, and the second material may be plastic.

Hybrid laundry mover

A laundry machine configured to supply a first amount of water to the wash tub wherein a wash plate can be oscillated such that clothes items directly above and in contact with the impeller are frictionally dragged in a oscillatory manner with the wash chamber while continuing to oscillate said wash plate, an additional supply of water is added to said wash tub such that as cloth items lost frictional engagement with the wash plate, the cloth items continue to move along an inverse toroidal rollover path at higher water levels.

A laundry treating appliance may include a drum and an impeller. The impeller may have a raised center, a bottom plate, a transition region between the bottom plate and the raised center, a center post extending upward from the raised center, and a plurality of radial protrusions extending along the raised center, the bottom plate, and the transition region.

A drive and support system for a bottom plate disposed in the bottom of a wash basket of an automatic washer. The bottom plate is driven to radially gyrate or wobble within the wash basket by an output shaft which extends upwardly though the bottom and is rotatable in a first and second direction. A spin tube is disposed coaxially about the output shaft and has a top end which engages the bottom of the basket. The spin tube is co-rotatable in the second direction with the output shaft. A universal joint pivotably supports the wash plate about the top end of the spin tube. Drive means connect the wash plate with the upper end of the output shaft such that the wash plate is disposed in an angled orientation when the output shaft is driven in the first direction and the wash plate is disposed in a level orientation when the output shaft is driven in the second direction. In this manner, the bottom plate is supported for wobbling during the wash portion of the wash cycle and is supported in a level orientation during the spin extraction portion of the wash cycle.

Detergent dispenser

A miniaturized plastic bus bar connecting a series of spaced terminal pins arranged in a row. The bar has U-shaped cross-section or the like with parallel legs and a connecting base web; and the web has openings formed by slots removing the bar base in the area of each pin. When one metal bar is used, the opposite leg can have a longitudinally extending boss to contact the pins and the opposite leg can be divided between each opening to localize the resilient force of the plastic material in gripping each pin. One or two metal conductive strips are set in one or both legs in position to bear on the pins. Insulation of metal strips at all or part of the pin locations and selective removal of insulation permits various circuit connections to the pins. Surfaces of boss and strips that the pins initially contact upon entry into said openings are disposed at camming angles for ease of bus bar installation.
