A fluid turbidity or filter clog sensor comprises a light source and a detector having at least one sensor position to cross a flow path or a filter element in order to improve the correspondence of the light intensity received at the receiver in correspondence with the turbidity level or clogging level occurring in the test cell. The detector preferably includes a direct path sensor, a scattered path sensor positioned to cross the flow path from the transmitter, and the reference light sensor communicating with the source outside of the test chamber. Moreover, the direct path may be a straight line path or a reflected path through the flow path when a fluid having a low level of turbidity is passed through the test cell. Likewise, the sensor includes means for compensating for changes in the illuminating source, changes for temperature variations occurring at the test cell, and compact packaging for convenient installation and improved production capacity.

Turbidity sensor

A method and apparatus for aligning a turn signal switch housing with respect to a cancellation pin support bracket includes installation of the bracket on a steering wheel hub. The bracket includes a gauge pin formed in one piece with the steering wheel hub ring bracket. The ring bracket supports cancellation pins to extend at radially displaced positions for registering with the actuator of the turn signal switch assembly. The turn signal switch assembly is supported upon the steering column housing by a mount for adjusting the axial position of the housing. In the preferred embodiment, the gauge pin is carried by the hub-mounted ring bracket and is positioned for engagement with an engagement surface on the turn signal housing adjacent the actuator to be operated by the cancellation pin. The switch housing is slid axially along the steering column housing while supported in a mounting bracket. The fasteners are then tightened to secure the turn signal housing to the steering column housing in a position necessary to rotate the cancellation pin in an arcuate path that intersects with the actuator on the turn signal switch housing.

Method and apparatus for aligning turn signal switch

A warning module for use with a motor vehicle having multiple sensor inputs and multiple sensor outputs. The inputs are coupled to sensing circuits for monitoring a condition such as engine temperature. The outputs are coupled to one or more light bulbs or other visual indicators which are activated at a lamp flash frequency. A variable frequency oscillator activates an audible output device, preferably a piezoelectric buzzer. The light output levels are diminished for nighttime use. A plastic housing supports a piezo-electric transducer and reverberation plate and achieves a high sound output.

Failsafe module

The inputs are coupled to sensing circuits for monitoring a condition such as engine temperature. A non-contacting type sensor and method for sensing angular position are provided for sensing the angular position of a body such as a throttle valve. The sensor includes a stator assembly and a rotor assembly adapted to be coupled to the body for rotation relative to the stator assembly. The rotor assembly includes a closed-loop magnetic flux concentrator which defines a controlled electromagnetic cavity and generating means for generating a first magnetic field within the cavity. The stator assembly includes a semiconductor device disposed within the cavity and having an electrical property which is a function of the orientation and strength of a resultant magnetic field. The stator assembly further includes a coil wound about the device for producing a second magnetic field which substantially cancels the effects of the first magnetic field on the device so as to obtain the resultant magnetic field. The electrical current in the coil required to produce the second magnetic field provides an indication of the angular position of the body.

An electrical switch assembly is shown as having a switch body slidably receiving a resiliently biased manually actuatable plunger which carries a resiliently deflectable member effective for engaging, when said plunger is suitably actuated, a related pivotally supported member which, in turn, is operatively connected to a movable electrical contact member effective for contacting cooperating relatively stationary electrical contacts.

A lamp assembly, such as an indicator or illuminator type, has a main body structure detachably securable to an associated support as, for example, an instrument panel of a related vehicle, with such body structure enabling the easy connection thereto of an associated light shield; the body structure carries a separately formed resiliently deflectable detent member enabling easy assembly and disassembly of the shield with respect to the body structure as well as an infinite selection of angular adjustment of the shield relative to body structure.

In one aspect of the invention a detachable lens shield is formed of relatively resiliently deflectable material and made in a generally tubular configuration with an internally formed textured-like surface for enhancing the gripping action thereof onto a coating lens.

A multi-function electrical switch assembly has body sections defining therebetween a chamber containing spaced fixed electrical contacts and spaced moveable electrical contacts carried by a plunger member which is resiliently restrained from moving the moveable contacts toward the fixed electrical contacts; a second set of electrical terminals are defined by a fixed terminal connected to a moveable deflectable arm carrying a first contact which, upon such arm being sufficiently deflected by the plunger, engages a cooperating second fixed contact.
