A device for supplying a shielding gas to a welding torch, the device including a cylinderfor holding the shielding gas, a valve operatively connected to the cylinder for selectively permitting flow of gas from the cylinder, a regulator for controlling the pressure of the gas flow from the cylinder, and a guard assemblycoupled to the cylinderand adapted to protect the valve and regulator from external forces, wherein a flow meterincorporated into the guard assembly, the flow meter being adapted to receive the nozzleof a welding torch and measure the flow rate of the gas therein.

Gas mixtures having precise compositions are prepared by separately pumping the components in liquid phase through piping, vaporizing the components, blending the components and analyzing the mixture for composition. A signal sent to a control unit causes any necessary change in the rate of pumping of the liquid components to reduce the difference between the measured concentration and the desired concentration. When the composition is within desired limits it is charged into gas cylinders.

A valve for use with an ultra high purity gas comprising a valve body defining a valve chamber having a valve outlet through which gas is discharged and containing a reciprocable sealing member, characterized in that the valve chamber is in fluid communication with a source of the gas and in that the sealing member is reciprocable along an axis substantially parallel to the direction of flow of gas discharged from the valve outlet and into and out of sealing contact with a sealing face located within the valve chamber and circumscribing the inlet end of a valve outlet pipe, the opposite, outlet end of which pipe forms the valve outlet. The valve has a low wetted area and is thus easy to purge, and the valve design both reduces wear and restricts it to a single component which is easily replaced when necessary.

Valve for use with high purity gas

A capsule for storing a fluid, for example helium, under pressure comprises a hollow body from which extends a hollow neck. A stopper engages with the neck in a fluid tight manner. The stopper includes a main hollow portion and a stem extending outwardly from the main hollow portion. The root of the stem where it joins the main hollow portion forms a frangible section which, when broken, will allow fluid in the capsule to escape under pressure.

Gas capsule and gas delivery system

A gas delivery system includes a capsule for storing a propellant fluid, e.g. helium under pressure, e.g. between about 60 and 80 bar. The capsule is provided with a stopper having a stem formed with a frangible section. In use, mechanical means is employed to rupture the stem about the frangible section to release the fluid under high pressure.

A capsule for storing a propellant fluid, for example, helium under pressure comprises a hollow body which includes a frangible area. An anchor member attaches an arm to the frangible area such that when a force is applied to the arm, said force together with the helium under pressure will cause the frangible area to rupture outwardly of the hollow body thereby to release the helium.

A pressure reduction valve 2 includes a piston 12, a pressure regulating sub-chamber 50 and a movable means, preferably in the form of a second piston 12', which is activated by a filling nozzle 70 to prevent the flow of fluid between an inlet 8 and the regulating sub-chamber 50 thereby to allow the flow of fluid through the valve between an outlet 10 and an inlet 8. This allows a cylinder to be filled whilst the pressure reduction valve 2 is in situ.
