An internally-fused capacitor includes a capacitor housing, at least one capacitor module, and at least one fuse assembly. The capacitor module is positioned in the housing and includes capacitor elements. Each capacitor element includes a first extended foil edge on a first end and a second extended foil edge on a second end. The fuse assembly is positioned in the housing and includes a fuse wire. The fuse wire is connected at a first end of the fuse wire to the first extended foil edge by a crimped connection.

Internally-fused capacitor

A hanger for a power factor capacitor and method of attachment by brazing reduces metallurgical changes that can lead to cracks in the tank wall from welding. The hanger has a base plate with a circular opening and a raised shoulder that provides a single ring of contact between the tank wall and hanger. A ring of brazing alloy is placed within the opening on the tank wall. Through induction of electric current, the brazing alloy melts and flows resulting in a complete braze between the hanger and the tank wall which is accomplished at a much lower temperature than other welding techniques.

Capacitor hanger and attachment method

A power factor correction capacitor is disclosed which includes: one generally flat elongated extended foil pack formed by wrapping a sheet of film, a wider sheet of foil, another but similar sheet of film and another but similar sheet of foil; a second generally flat elongated extended foil pack generally similar to the first pack; and at least one clip which mechanically connects one of the extended sheets of foil in the first pack with one of the extended sheets of foil in the second pack by physically piercing the extended edges of the adjacent foil ends.

Power factor correction capacitor

A flipper is described for a fuse of the type having a generally cylindrical fuse tube, a fusible element within the tube and a fuse leader, the fuse leader having two ends with one of the ends connected to the fusible element disposed within the tube and with the other end of the leader adapted to be connected to a fixed terminal such as one of the two terminals of a power factor capacitor. In one embodiment, the flipper has two elongated arms disposed adjacent one another, a helical torsion spring at one end of each arm, an eyelet connecting together the other end of the arms and adapted to pass through the fuse leader, and a hook or similar connection carried by the springs to mount the flipper assembly to the associated terminal to which the free end of the fuse leader is joined. The flipper assists in the extraction of the leader from the fuse tube and provides positive restraint of the leader after the fuse has blown. Several specific embodiments are described wherein the lateral displacement of the torsion springs is controlled, the lateral displacement of the leader arms is varied, and the angular relationship between the flipper arms and the terminal connection is changed.
