A cube wire grid polarizer or an embedded wire grid polarizer can include an adhesive-free, direct bond between the wire grid polarizer and piece(s) of glass. Consequently, index of refraction mismatch can be avoided and the polarizer can have improved high temperature tolerance. The polarizer can include multiple layers over the wire grid polarizer, with the top of these layers polished, then directly bonded to the piece of glass. Material of the top layer can be selected such that thickness of this layer is not critical, thus allowing polishing.

Adhesive-free polarizer

A cube polarizing beam splitter (PBS) can have one or more of the following characteristics: high contrast (Tp/Ts), acceptance of a large range of incident angles, broadband, and symmetry. The cube PBS can include a pair of wire-grid polarizers sandwiched between a first prism and a second prism. There can be a boundary layer between the wire-grid polarizers. An optical path length of a transmitted beam can be equal or very close to an optical path length of a reflected beam.

Symmetric cube polarizing beam splitter

An optical device can be used for circularly polarizing light and/or removing reflected light from an optical system (optical isolation). The optical device can have a polarizing-cube including a pair of prisms and a polarizer. Each prism can have two ends linked by an inner face and two outer faces. The prisms can be attached together at the inner face of each with the polarizer sandwiched between the prisms. Fresnel rhomb(s) can be attached to outer face(s) of the prisms.
