This disclosure describes co-extruded multilayer articles including at least one continuous layer and one discontinuous layer, as well as systems and techniques for the manufacture of co-extruded multilayer articles. For example, a co-extruded multilayer article is described that includes a body having a plurality of layers, where a first layer of the plurality of layers is formed from a first material and is continuous along a longitudinal axis of the body, and a second layer of the plurality of layers is formed from a second material and is discontinuously co-extruded along the longitudinal axis.

A device to measure the voltage at a test point, also referred to as a test point voltage sensor, comprises a housing formed from a first material and a second material, wherein the first material comprises an insulating material and the second material comprises a conductive or semiconductive material. The housing includes an opening configured to cover a test point of a cable accessory. The device further includes a pressure pad, disposed in the housing, having a conductive mating surface configured to contact a test point of the basic insulation plug or end plug. The device further includes a low side capacitor embedded in the housing and electrically coupled to the conductive mating surface. The device further includes a signal wire electrically coupled to the low side capacitor.

A terminal connection device comprises a contiguous body disposed onto an inner conductor. The inner conductor includes a first end mateable with a power cable connector and a second end. The body comprises a multilayer structure having an inner conductive or semiconductive layer disposed over at least a portion of the power cable connector, an insulating layer and an outer conductive or semiconductive layer. The body surrounds the first end of the inner conductor and extending towards the second end of the inner conductor. The body can also include an electrically isolated section of conductive or semiconductive material. A breathable moisture barrier suitable for use in enclosing flexible electrodes, foam substrate and other electrical components within a substantially liquid impervious environment without significantly impairing the ability of electrical sensors to accurately measure temperature and humidity variations within the surrounding environment such as the seating compartment of an automobile. It is further disclosed that a breathable polymeric material having a sufficiently high moisture vapor transmission rate (MVTR) will permit water vapor to be transported across the barrier and quickly reach equilibrium within the enclosed seat sensor mat assembly and to allow the humidity compensation of the occupant sensing system to function correctly. The breathable moisture barrier of the present invention provides a sufficiently high MVTR to allow rapid humidity equilibration within the sensor mat so as to better track rapid changes in the passenger compartment environmental conditions upon starting the car and applying either air conditioning or heating.

An electrically insulating composition for bonding to metal and method for applying the composition in sheet form. The insulating composition comprises a polyolefin polymer adapted for elevated temperature crosslinking and a co-bonding agent mixed with the polyolefin polymer in an amount up to about 60 parts of tile co-bonding agent to 100 parts of the polyolefin polymer. Preferably, the insulating composition cures in contact with metal pre-heated to elevated temperatures in a range from about 140&deg; C. to about 190&deg; C. to provide a lap-shear bond strength between the electrically insulating composition and a metal substrate of from about 3.3 MPa to about 12 MPa.
